More progress....
Finished welding the frame.
Cut the arms apart and everything is still square! Lol

Because I have the lift cable tubes running under the body I really didnt want to notch the main rails. I bought 1.5"x2 tubing to run on top and then cut it for the cable tube to run through.

All the tube ends will be capped.
To do list this week.
Plasma cut the upper airbag mounts out.
Measure for shocks prior to welding my tabs on.
Place cross member above airbags.
Mount electric lift for camper top.
Mount bump stops.

That looks great man, excellent progress! I dig the airbag, independent suspension design...very plushy plush I bet.

Got a little bit if work done today. My parents thought I was at work today soo I got half day freebie! Spent sometime measuring for where to place the upper airbag mount. Lots of math, but got the middle of the road location.* Made my CAD drawing for the upper mount. (Cardboard aided design). Need to pick up some steel plate since non of my scrap metal will work.
Welded my upper tubing, crossbar, and mocked the airbag in place.

Well got a bit done today! Had to work around kindergarten and naps! So after going through a ton of shock charts I found a set that would work well. Monroe shock off a 63 corvette lol! So off to autozone. Well the part number in the 2014 doesnt match autozone catalog.... God forbid you ask them anything technical about anything. Soo got my shocks and didnt end up punching the 50 year old autozone employee in the face for being a jackazz. Had to weld in another cross brace for the upper shock mount.

Not super happy about my welds even though they are bomber.(baby started crying on the monitor)

Ended up being the perfect length and compression.
Welded the bumpstop cups on also

I did up cutting the bumps down but gave myself extra in case.
Need limiting straps, airline fittings, electric brake lines, paint, and I can probably mount the camper!

Looks fantastic man. And I hear you when it comes to the employees at <insert any auto parts place here>. They literally know nothing about cars, parts, nada. My dad was a Journeyman Parts-man for probably 35 years. He can to this day spout off part numbers for nearly every car into the early 90's, even rare and obscure European stuff. Ask a guy at Napa or Canadian Tire (Autozone up here) about a spark plug or a set of brake shoes and they just stare at you??

Welds look awesome. What welder and settings are you running to get them to come out so pretty!! lol

I am using a lincoln 3200HD. It was the biggest 110v you could buy when I got it. Using argon/co2 mix, .030 wire. I run it D setting with about 5.5 line speed for around all the thicker material. Had it for last 8 years but need to step up to a 220 welder now

I so need to learn to weld... 110 is probably where I am going to start as well. Good to know you can get such a good weld and what looks like good penetration with that gauge of steel.

There is hope for me yet!! lol
