Update on the Cummins build....

We've been moving along (slowly) Main objective has been testing the donor engine to make sure its good. After multiple tests (and sourcing the correct tools) the diagnosis is BAD. So the decision has been made to get a complete rebuilt unit! I think this will be best for the customer anyway. Nationwide warranty, etc since this van will all over the country. So here it is! Tranny & T-case are ready to go too so I hope to make some good progress this upcoming week.

V4 has been doing its job lately, yesterday I picked up some fuel tanks from coating and then the tires for the Class C.

Is the engine complete with turbo and injection pump? Looks like it was painted to go into a catapillar back how or a loader. How cool is that, brand new cummins into a 4X4 van.

great shop

Chris, I stopped by the shop last Friday as I was on my way to Fontana Dam. I just wanted to say it's a great shop with great guys working there. I was hoping to see V4 in person but you were out, but fortunately I got a glimpse of it as you passed me in town. As with most who admire your work, I would certainly love to own a piece of your handiwork!

What kind of tires are they? I'm already planning for the next set on mine!

Sorry I missed you! I hate when that happens!

Progress on the RV continues! Still waiting for some parts, should have the front end on the ground by the middle of next week.

The Cummins is ready for the 1st mockup install.

And we finished up a new prototype bumper today for the 08/up vans! I plan to offer 2 different bumpers for this front end. This is the simpler non winch version, the 2nd will be larger and winch ready. I'm trying to be weight conscious with V5 and this puppy only weighs 25lbs!

Chris, how do you like the 5.4 in a van? Does it have enough power, does it sound strong, can you tow with it? I have considered a 5.4 but always worried about the power difference between the 7.3 that is in my current rig.

I like it. For a DD/people hauling rig its fine. I've towed with it a few times, no more than 5K on my trailer. I wouldn't recommend extended periods of towing, but it did fine at normal speeds in town. Sound is good.

There's no comparison to a diesel, especially when it comes to efficiency.

I've been waiting to see a photo of what you have in the works for an '08/up front bumper. Looks great Chris! Can't wait to see the winch version! Have you thought about doing rear bumpers as well to match?

On the Cummins swaps, for future reference, you can exchange a core motor at a Cummins parts/service center and get back a rebuilt by Cummins motor: https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/qsol/products/engines/midrange.html and http://www.cummins-sp.com/engines/recon/. Nationwide warranty, built to Cummins specs by Cummins, etc. I've not used this option (I haven't needed a complete rebuilt motor in the two Cummins powered Dodges I've had), but I thought I'd pass it along to you.

The work you do on the van swaps is pretty amazing and fun to watch.
