SwissVan is about to leave for paint, we'll be sitting it down tomorrow. Since it will be getting an aux fuel tank on the rear skid, Justin thought it would be a good idea to cut a hole and weld in a factory fuel fill. Looks great!

Once its back from paint we'll finish up by adding the Atlas II t-case, underfloor storage, both fuel tanks, finish up the Sterling install and get the rest of the van road worthy. Then the rest of the interior will be finished by Morehead. We have some tricks coming up with the front bumper too..... :)

Why install an atlas 2 in a van?

A few reasons.

1. Thats what the customer wanted

2. It's the only brand new t-case we can get

3. Although I don't believe that a full size van needs or will benefit from a t-case like this, its still pretty cool :)

4. It's a new option for guys, options are good

Far enough, nothing wrong with options. I just want to see a van doing a front wheel dig or burnout now :sombrero: What ratio case do you run? 3.0, 3.8 or 4.3?

I need to finish up my Jeep im building so I can finally tryout my 4 speed atlas :smiley_drive:

I would have installed the Atlas in my Van if it were available at the time. I still want to do it and plan on it.

When you're pitched on 35 degree decline, in loose rocky gravely silt - 10000 lbs aint easy to control. The 2.7-1 ratio doesn't do it for me. I'm standing on the brakes and then the ABS traction control kicks in vibrates the you know what out the van. With a 3.8 or 4.3 the t case will be doing all the hard work using the compression of the engine to control the wheel speed.

Ah yes and the mother of all. How about 2 wheel drive LOW range when climbing tight switch backs, going around the tight turns you can pop it into 2 wheel drive on the fly. A feature I like to use all the time in my TJ. I can do it now by unlocking the front hubs but that ssux.

I got some parts to sell very soon, because Chris and company won't stop making newer cool stuff. Did I hear something about an 25 gallon AFT combo rear skid --- underfloor storage going into a customers project. Lovely just lovely

2wd low (unlocked) is awesome when backing a camper <12" from your house up your semi-steep driveway too.

Not to get too far off topic, but I found a great use for my 4 speed Atlas on Monday. I needed to level the van out for camping on a beach. Was ready to jump out and dig holes to drop the front tires into. Instead, just popped it into FWD low range, hit the accelerator and the front dropped into the sand perfectly. Popped the van top, opened a beer and was camped.

Anybody that has low range and locking hubs has 2wd low. Just don't lock the hubs and put it in low! I've done it many times.

FWIW, I use 4 low with hubs disengaged on my van quite a lot. There are many places I end up going that don't require 4 wheels driving, but where I find 1st gear way too high. More options, more flexibilty, mo' better!

Just sayin :)

Goodies coming your way tomorrow, I'll shoot you a text with the details!

as stated in my rant. I have 2 wheel drive low, but it is really nice on the fly. I do use low range in the van when the hubs aren't locked but just for fun
