Had a nice weekend here in NC, perfect weather and we were able to attend a fundraising event at a local off road park. iIt's a private park, so open invites are few and far between! We brought a few rigs and had a god time. I brought a pro photographer so I should have some good action shots and even some video later today. The lighting wasn't perfect, so we'll see how they turn out!

MegAmbo surprised a few people with it's hill climbing abilities. Here's a shot of it coming down the alt route.

V4 in the woods. 1st real off road trip with this rig, it did really well.

Back at the shop, some new arrivals!

This Bronco belongs to a friend in CA, I won't go too far into the details on what we'll be doing.... If i get my way I'll be building a rig that I've been dreaming of for a LONG LONG time.

Full conversion kit headed to CA. Axle, t-case, fuel tank, everything but the shafts!

And this bad boy! We like pain here at UJOR. 6" on 35's (with some sweet 19.5's) ram assist, lockers, the works. This brand new E450 V10 is gonna be one sweeeeet beach rig!

I have been dreaming of a fullsize white '96 Bronco with a 7.3, manual tranny and solid axles... I actually started researching the swap, but I don't have a building in which to do the work... or money.

Brett's top is on, windows are in, all done by Robert @ Morehead design labs. We've got the 35's mounted, just finishing up a few things before he picks it up on Friday. Looks great on 35's! Her's what we did.... took him from a 4" to 6", added crossover steering and a trac bar kit, onboard air, 39 gallon UJ fuel tank, front dual shocks with Bilstein 5160's all the way around, Fender flares, 35" Toyo MT's on Pro Comp wheels, and a UJOR front bumper. Can't wait for him to get back behind the wheel!

I never get tired of filling wheel wells with my dual shock mounts & 5160's! SwissVan is moving along....

SwissVan also got a rear skid today. We're adding an underfloor storage and a 28-29 gallon aux fuel tank in this space.

aux 28 gallon fuel tank

Chris see you are doing the Aux fuel tank on the Swiss Van. I did not realize they are now offered.

May i ask how much they cost to have installed ? thinking of increasing the range of the CopeCobra van if you have to
cut the existing fuel tank? I am thinking of just breaking the Piggy bank for more Ujoint Goodies if I can.

Don't know if you have enough time to put in an Aux tank given the time line to complete the build. So no worries if
too late to potentially add an aux fuel tank. I have to believe the extra range is really a blessing on extended trips.

Let me know. Copes

Chris,

Can you shed a little more light on how the aux tank on V4 went in? Is there an existing hookup to the fuel gage, a hookup for the pump, etc? how about switching? I know you have the aft-mounted tank like me, and I have the big space under where the standard tank goes - Let me know!

This is the 1st aux tank that we're putting in the rear skid. No problem getting it on your rig, I just don't have pricing finalized. We'll go ahead and make 2 tanks!

We made the tank part of the bed, so it hangs from there. The factory sending unit has an aux port so we ran a line w/pump from the aux tank to that. I have a switch in the sPOD for the pump. The only thing I wish we had done was a gauge or even a sight tube to check the level. When on big trips its easy to keep track, but day to day I forget whats in there! It is pretty cool to have it though. Main tank runs out, just hit the switch and fill her back up :)

aux tank

OK Sounds great. Having a gauge is always best for my small brain, but I don't know how much more involved that is over an external float gauge on exterior of tank.
Either way works for me as long I as I can get a reading someway somehow.

Ive ran dual senders and a DPST switches for similar setups in the past. AutoMeter has 99-0 &0-99ohm senders depending on application. Flip the switch, and you've got one gauge reading either tank.

So, what makes for a good donor van? What options are desirable, and what options complicate things?

I hear any engine other than a V10 or diesel is harder to convert, is that true?
How about the 2008+ model year vans, any advantages/disadvantages to those?

Our friend Jeremy stopped by today to drop off some parts (we're about to start his E450 Ambo build) and for us to crawl under his Quigley to test fit our fuel tank. No go unfortunately.... Quigley added a 4x4 tail housing as well as an additional spacer to re use the 2wd output shaft. So, we'll have to shorten our tank to make it fit. I get enough calls, so we'll make it happen.

So... Does this mean you ARE going to make some "special" tanks for us darned Quigley folk?
