On the Cummins swaps, for future reference, you can exchange a core motor at a Cummins parts/service center and get back a rebuilt by Cummins motor: https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/qsol/products/engines/midrange.html and http://www.cummins-sp.com/engines/recon/. Nationwide warranty, built to Cummins specs by Cummins, etc. I've not used this option (I haven't needed a complete rebuilt motor in the two Cummins powered Dodges I've had), but I thought I'd pass it along to you.

The work you do on the van swaps is pretty amazing and fun to watch.

Thanks! Good info for sure.

We're still waiting for the steering box & pump to come back with the ram assist mods, so we put the front down anyway so we can started on the rear. Can't wait to get this rig on the road!

Front hitch is back from powder so we installed it too

Here's the last Class C we did camping on the beach in NC! He said he blew right by several 4x4's that were stuck. Wheelbase helps I guess :D

And last but not least, a good view of the rear skid system being maximized. On the right (front of the skid) is the aux fuel tank. At the rear is the underfloor storage. All of this and the skid is only 3" below the frame.

Yesterday this box of awesomeness arrived. New 5.0 Coyote crate engine for the upcoming full size Bronco project. I think 414hp will pick up the pace a bit!

If Icon can figure out a way to put them into EBs (even if they are bespoke one-offs), I'm sure Chris can find a way to make it fit in a full-size.

Still like coming into this thread every once in a while, always something new and cool.

Hi Chris

Can you tell more about the Swiss vans roof? It's obviously higher, what is the interior height?
Is it fully made off plastic or does it have any kind of extra strength due to a frame of steal or Alu?
How it's it fixed to the body? I guess rivets and glue ( that's the way I saw it's done on different cars in Germany)
Who's the manufacturer, is it possible to get it in Europe and how much, finally?

Btw, if you have already experience with this roof: is it strong enough for offroading? These totally open roofs, also the pop tops, doesn't make me confident on that point, as the roof is an important part to give the body strength. Imagine making a roll over...

I didn't install the roof, it was done by Morehead Design Lab. He has more info on it, I see if I can get these questions answered. It is fiberglass.

Roofs do not help you in a roll-over. Thats what roll-cages are for.

Very very true!

3.5 tonnes of engine, chassis, driveline won't be supported by a hundred kilos of sheet metal, if you roll over.

Yep

Thanks for Info Chris.

Regarding security on steal roofs:
I used to have a bigger truck with 11ton and in this communiy (around 8-9t) people are using mostly ex army Boxes in the back. But some people don´t. I´ve seen photos of a Magirus that rolled over. It had a Box made like a caravan- NOTHING was left behind the original cabin! The Trucks frame was totally blank, where the plastic box used to be. If anybody has been sitting there you can image.
So it´s not a just something like rumors, but the driver himself decided after that experience (btw on a Russia trip) that he will never make the top that weak.

It is defintly a difference if the cabine is closed or has a plastic roof that provides the cabin to fold together.
Of course rollcages are made for security. But there is something in between a rollcage and a plastic cabin/roof. Not everthing is 1 or 0.

You are going to have to Shoehorn that Coyote in the Bronco - that is one WIDE engine.

Yes it is! This is a FS Bronco so I think we're good. If not........ the torch will come out!

True! We'll get her in there. And thanks, I'll try to keep the cool stuff coming.
