A proper Ujoint/A-Team homage would not have the red spoiler. Instead it would have a Ujoint roof rack in black with a raised rear section anodized in bright red.

What is the budget for Alpha or is there one?

Met a guy a few weeks ago who had 150K in an Outside Sprinter and said there were several things that he wanted but left out due to budget.

Yep. Budget? What budget? I blew past the budget a long time ago unfortunately. Luckily, the customer understands it all and we've made the decisions together for the ultimate goal on this rig. Radiator/intercooler is in and now we're plumbing it all up. Getting close!

True dat.

We might make suggestions and recommendations, but if a customer is certain about what they want then that's what they are getting.

True. Unless its a safety or design issue we do what they want. If its something I just don't want to do I have a good explanation.

Makes sense, the bolt pattern probably isn't the same left to right let alone van to van.

Exactly.

Hmmmm. Good idea. We're planning a small light bar at the front, would be cool to incorporate a full rack.

Don't forget the windshield visor and how about individual spot lights like the van had at one point ?
That and incorporating the rear wing onto a rack, maybe a rear facing light bar with red paint and triangular mounting brackets to look like a wing from the side?

I'm not a huge fan of the windshield visors although the A team van always had one. I do like the lights they had up there, will do something like that for sure. Not going for a full replica style on this thing, going to change it up a bit but it will still pay respect to the original.

I had done some research on A-team van conversion parts in the past and found this website helpful.
Wings, visors, hoods, bumpers, etc.

Those wings are cool!

I'm curious Chris if you guys have come up with a 50-52" LED light bar mount that uses the rain gutters? Seems like most applications use the rack.

Yeah, start sourcing that red roof spoiler now.

no reason for an actual spoiler (unless of course the customer really wanted one). some small flat pieces of aluminum colored red shaped like a wing from the side and the top bar of one of his racks painted red across the back and it would appear as a spoiler without actually needing a spoiler.

I get asked all the time if im going to paint my van like the ateam van. its like the only van people remember other than the mystery mobile. mine is far from looking anything like that van, but it will be cool if that's the direction this customer is headed. its not my thing, but I would appreciate it regardless. as tough as so many of the ujor rigs look, I think he could pull off the look without being corny.

Yea we've only done the mounts directly to the rack. Part of me is over the light bar trend, don't have the motivation to make another mount.

Yea I've been asked 1000 times about the A-Team thing. Probably happens to us all so thats why I'm doing it! Now I can say YES, its an A-Team van. This van belongs to me, we're using it as our 1st coil sprung conversion demo rig. I'm digging the idea of making the rack red where the wing would go.

Ryan (Fab-Lab on IG) is using a Rigid Industries a-pillar mount bracket pair from a Ford Raptor IIRC.

Hey Chris, when you work up that quote for the guy from Parker, Colorado be sure to include my commission! I camped with those guys at Green River, Utah. They offered me 30k for my van. I told em it wasn't for sale and gave them your name.
