Wow, that is hot. Just curious, what's the benefit of going with the van chassis vs. an F350? Or, are the interchangeable?

The E-350 should have a longer bed, but shorter in length overall, when compared to an F-350.

The deep set cab back you are using,is it the same unit that comes on the U-haul box vans?Will the cab be bigger than the U-haul box vans?I've been looking into some box trucks and vans.

Steve sums it up pretty well below. The XP Camper will work on any flatbed, I just happen to like vans a little bit With the van, we can do a long bed (10-11') without going beyond the frame rails. It's just better packaging on a short rig.

I'm not sure how deep the U-Haul cabs are, but this is 12", bigger than the u-hauls. We can go from 4-48".

Chris - you have issues out there with DMV considering a flatbed a commercial vehicle? A guy out here on the left coast started getting tickets for not pulling into weigh stations.

I don't want to hijack this thread but you will find answers in my link. Pickup trucks are exempt from the scales. A flatbed does not meet the definition of a pickup. As soon as that bed is gone, you no longer have a pickup. You might also need to get a CA number.

What about all the gardeners out here with the flat bed Toyotas ? I know they are not getting pulled over. If there is a problem , which I doubt it, it could be classified as an R/V . Also, we have built a ton of Toyota trucks with flatbeds and /or full cages for rock crawling and have never been pulled over. They were all street legal. I have even been pulled over by cops just to look at some of my trucks. All We needed is rear mudflaps to make us legal. The one Officer even did roadside truck inspections.

Just because every cop doesn't pull you over every time you are on the road doesn't make it legal. You would be amazed (or maybe not) how many cops are ignorant of the laws on the books. I didn't make the laws. Don't kill the messenger.
