Nada..... 99-01 everything is a 50 unless it's a DRW truck. 02-04 are all D60's. Excursions never got a 60, they're all 50's. 02 is the tricky year, there are some 50's & some 60's. For the 02 model year I always check the BOM#.

Dana 50 = 229
Dana 60 = 248
Dana Super 60=258
Dana 70 = 267
Dana 80 = 286

The three digit model number is cast into the center section, upside down, on the passenger side above the horizontal reinforcement rib. The three digit model number is also on the paper assembly tag in a box in the bottom right corner.

Taken from drive shaft looking back toward trailer hitch - It’s the raised number on the pictures right side. (On the van, driver side, Top, Front of dif.)

Good info guys! Or you can get the BOM # and punch it in on this site:

BigBlack was violated by the plasma today! Took a couple of hours to get the control arm brackets off, they were welded on and hard to get to. if I get started early enough tomorrow I'll have the axle done & I'll put this bad boy on the ground.

And, if it does not clear the tire ....... Are you planning a U-Joint slider hinge extension? (I'll buy one!) I know you need to move the hinge mount forward in the door as far as you extend the hinge out but I can do that.

Chris..... does the sliding door clear the rear tires on the black van ?

Yes it does.
