Finally got the rest of the axle parts so we got it together and now its ready to hit the ground! Leaving it on stands right now to keep everything stable while the interior work continues.

Here's a shot of the roof before the rack. AC unit and 2 fans to keep the air flowing. We're also adding new windows on all walls that open up for even more air flow.

Interesting to see how simple, meaning a little silly, they attached the AC on the roof. In my Hometown Cologne are some Bridges know for destrying trucks as they are just a little over 3m, I think it's 3,30 m. There was around 5 trucks that lost their roof! No big deal for a standart ambulance- but a ujoint one could loose its AC!

Anyway, just interesting for me as I am checking out wether an ambo or standart van fits better, for my needs. btw can anybody tell me am empty weight of a type 3 ambo? I know they are different ODMs. Possible to get one under 3500kg?

(sorry for metric parameter :D )

The AC and fans will be protected by the roof rack, but he'll still need to know his limits! I'll make sure he stays away from that bridge in Cologne :D

Don will be really happy if you can get the Rhinoambo to do wheelies. :bike_rider:

I bet! Anything is possible :D

Rhino got a front bumper and Warn 16.5 today. All bumpers now include a Warn power plug and a quick disconnect for OBA.

And SuperBlue is ready to go home! This van may look like a standard 6" UJ conversion, but this was an extensive build. The van is an 03 E350 7.3 that has under 15K on the clock. Rare find! When the van was purchased it headed straight to SMB for a pop top. Then it came to UJOR.

We did a complete 6" kit with a Stage 2 front axle that has the RSC upgrade, Stage 2 Sterling out back with a True Trac, Onboard air system, rear overload airbags with in cab control, rear skid system that holds an 8D battery and protects the rear underfloor storage (soon to be available as a kit) AMP steps, DP Tuner, A pillar gauges (EGT, Turbo boost and Tranny Temp) Front receiver (also soon to be available), Aluminess rear tire carrier, fender flares, Method racing wheels with Toyo AT2 tires, and we also sandblasted and powdercoated the bumpers. Great van, drives like a dream and the customer in CA will love it!

Got the rear springs in today so we could finally put this beast on the ground. Looks pretty good on 35's!

Over the top workmanship

Chris, All the work coming out of your shop looks insane !!!

Love the look of the Rhino with the front bumper. Really get a chance to see how nice it fits.
I think it has much more character over the Aluminess Front Bumpers sold. To that end.....

Trying to convince my wife to put your Bumper on my conversion, in your shop now, instead
of redoing my Bumper to better. Showed her the pic with the Bumper and think she will come around.

Cannot wait for you to get busy on the full conversion of "CopesCobra" so I can stop drooling over all the one's I see you're doing !!!

Keep it all going--don't stop now!!!

Can't stop! Just wait till everyone sees what we're doing with your rig!

Very nice work Chris!

With these ambo conversions, what do you or others do about all of the exterior lighting? Remove the lenses and cap them off? Install offroad lighting in their place?

When it is finally time to pass my White Buffalo on, a Type III ambulance conversion may be the next evolution.

Chris

Usually change all of the covers to a clear lens, but I've seen some guys block them off. The light bars are usually removed as well. It depends on how the ambo was purchased. This one was being sold to go back into service so everything was functional.
