Finally installed our new production side steps on V7 and swapped the front lights for a 30" light bar that came off V4.

What psi should a run with a 7.3 van with 33’s in the sand? BFG KO2’s.

Do you keep it in 4wd and lockers locked?

Thanks!

no need for lockers in sand. Open difs, open transfer case will work better. Sand has equal traction all around. Lockers FORCE something to slip, dig in, the last thing you want in sand or snow.

You really need to be conscious of what the tires are doing, if you need to turn tight, you might be best in 2WD. If you need to turn around, a 3 point turn might work best. With long run outs.

Psi... As low as you dare, 15 is a pretty safe number, all that counts is not losing the bead.

If you sense a loss of momentum, don't pin it and bury yourself to the frame. Stop and back up. Then gently get more momentum to get thru that soft spot in a straight line.

I run 20 in the sand and yes, more traction the better! Do you have a front locker? I probably wouldn't engage it for normal sand driving.

I have a lunchbox locker. STILL haven’t finished 4WD. Plan on finishing when I get off the boat this time.

I wanted to try out some beaches in Texas when I go back down south.

For the beaches in Texas you may not even need 4x4 for the most part. Some soft spots here and there. I do not bother with the pressures, 45 psi on 305/65/18 and LSD rear and open front. I haven‘t been south of Matagorda, maybe farther south the sand is less compacted, but around Houston you will see a lot of 2wd Trafffic.
