A few more snap shots.

Graham drinking his "Bark Deer"
Serious diesel envy
Tony's award winning Kobi ribs
Land Rover magazines a must for every privy.

I had a great time putting Expo names to faces, a really great bunch of people.

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to drop a note to say thanks to everyone at the trophy for a spectacular time! The Overland Society did a fantastice job with the event. Hats off to them. A special thanks to JP, Greg, Sean, Scott and Martyn for getting me mobile again. Made it home thanks to them. What a hoot. I am already looking forward to next year.

And to everyone who attended, up-yers!!!

Paul, unfortunately, was later the recipient of the Carnage Award for a bit of front diff trouble, which involved turning a unit comprising perhaps 15 parts into one comprising perhaps 100.

Holy smokes Paul!

Thank YOU Paul for your part in making this the best one yet. And I'm not talking about the mobile brew pub - but your generosity and fun!

To all the participants - you guys were the best. Everyone was genuinely interested in learning more, in practicing leave-no-trace, and not just competing -- we saw lots of helping hands and tip-sharing, too, among competitors.

We especially want to thank our sponsors:

Equipt Expedition Outfitters - grand prize

Adventure Trailers - dinner sponsor and prize donor

Sierra Expeditions - grand prize, assistance with t-shirts

Overland Journal, Expeditions West - prizes

Overland Training - prize

And sponsors of challenge portions of the Trophy and education components:

Silva Compasses

DeLorme maps and GPS units

JetBoil

And once again thanks to everyone with Overland Society who donated all the time and effort to make it happen.

Everyone keeps asking about this 'secret society' - rest assured we've just been a little slow coming out with our membership criteria since we've all been so busy with the Trophy and other work commitments. Stay tuned!

This event totally exceeded my expectations! Thanks to everyone for the good times and excellent learning experiences. I'm now confident that I can sew up a ripped sidewall, run my tires at 0 psi, and build a perfect mojito.

Paul - thanks for the best bar scene ever. Nothing like enjoying a frosty draft beer with a bunch of new friends in the in the middle of the desert!

Take it easy,

And I have learned that prosciutto works better than bacon when wrapped around cream cheese-stuffed dates, as it does not try to deform when cooking . Those things were awesome!

Got some pics and stories of my own that I'll post later, and Gary will have all his stuff sync'd in the next couple days so we'll have vids of the closed course action, including the Humpback Whale and the Raging Blue Lemming.

Thanks! I'm glad you guys enjoyed them.
Who would have guessed that you could improve upon bacon wrapping :eatchicke

A Cheetoh? :)

Looks like a great time! Maybe next year we can get a NW contingency to head down and get whooped by all of those unfamiliar sand obstacles.
