So while gathering up the parts for the conversion, I started the interior and floor storage.

Nice! Love the slide locks in the floor. Doesn't one end need to be open so you can slide the locks in?

Any more pictures of the interior build out? The storage in the floor is sick. Any plans for a drain in that storage box so you can hose it out if needed? That's one of the things I'm considering for that spot.

The panels in the van look great too!

Adding a drain could also allow it to double as a shower pan - I was describing this idea to Lance for his high top so that you could shower standing up inside, then the curtain and hoses could store in the recess when not in use.

Hadn't really thought I would need a drain plug. It's going to be a toolbox, extra parts, supplies you want with you but don't need quick.

The shower idea is great. I'm not planning a pop top or a bubble top of any kind right now.

It drops down 9" I made it level with the frame. I suppose it could have been bigger but it will work for intended purpose.
I plan on adding a small 3 drawer unit just to the left of the storage box, utilizing the factory seat bolt hole to secure it down. If I want to pull the drawers out, just 2 bolts and it's out.

Thanks for the compliments and the input, keep the ideas coming.

Battery Box-boxes

Last Tuesday I got the rest of my kit from UJOR.. Just need some brake lines and the 4 wheel drive will begin.

Friday after work I finished plumbing the air compressor. I'm using a 200psi Viair with a 2.5 gallon tank. I found a pressure regulator and a guage for $5. to knock down the psi for the lockers. It is a quality piece, I just scored a sweet deal. I'll get some pics of that up later.

This weekend I installed the dual battery box I made from two stock boxes. I routed the air line from compressor to the tank, and the power from aux batts.

They were two that became one:

first I drilled out the factory spot welds and removed the brackets on one side of each box.

I welded them together:

The lid was a little tricky, I used some 1 1/4" flat steel to bolt them together across the top and a skate board bearing spacer in the front to keep the lids together. Total cost of the box and fabrication around $50.. ebay

Some paint and it's ready to install.

I used poly nut sets for the wire loom and the air line to secure them to the frame. This makes it easier to R&R everything.

More to come.

Now I can drill the floor and bring the wires through.

Nice work on the wire/hose routing! Careful when drilling the floor, the last time I tried it mounting my seats I had a bright green geyser coming through the floor from the hard rear heater coolant line I accidently punched through with my long unibit. Always check both sides! The good thing is now I have a definite spot I will be installing my heat exchanger for my hot water shower setup!

That's one of the things I miss most about losing Terry to the West-coast. He always kept things lively in the shop when given a wrench and one of the main reasons why I now always wear safety glasses... :wings:
