I’ve got the 6.7 and just change the fluids and filters when the computer tells me to. On average, over 4 changes, it has been around the 7000 mile mark that the light comes on.
I’m hoping that will change once I delete and add more filtration. I’m also keeping my fingers crossed for a 10k mile average.
Either way, my grandfather always told me not to change the oil unless I felt metal in it with my fingers when I checked the levels.
He would go, 10-15k miles between fluid changes when I was growing up and that truck still ran like a top after my aunt sold it 25 years after he died.
Personally, I think OEM manufacturers tell you to do it more often for sales reasons, but I’ve always erred on the conservative side.
