Water Jerry Can

I'm looking for two water cans for my Jeep Trailer.

I want them to be metal, similar to gas cans.

Dad seems to think they make special metal jerry cans with a liner in them, to keep the water potable. One without the liner would eventually rust on the inside and such.

Does anyone know of anything similar? We can't seem to find them online.

They stopped making those years ago. The lining, whatever it was, eventually broke down and rusted the can. Dad had some from the 1970's. US GI water cans have been plastic since the late 1980's....I use the ones my Uncle gave me.

If you are dead set on metal post a msg on G503.com. I have to say, I truely and without being mean, think you are crazy to use the old GI metal water cans.....RUST= lock jaw.

In addition to lined steel water cans, there were also aluminum water cans. I was lucky enough to score four of them several years ago, but have not seen any available on the surplus market since then.

Here you go. Direct link to where you can purchase the Blue Metal Jerry Can.

Scepter - if you knew what they went through around the world, you would want them.

They are worth seeking out.

Sorry but the rust comment (lockjaw) is inaccurate. Rust is not poisonous,it is red oxides from inside the pipes/cans. There are a bazillion homes with gavanized pipes that are rusted inside and there are no medical facts/issues from drinking it. Tetnus which causes lockjaw is found in the soil, it is a bacteria and not in rust. The "rusty nail" scenerio .... the old rusty nail that someone steps on is not what causes lockjaw. The nail is usually found outside in the dirt and the nail punctures the skin and thats how the C bacteria enters the body.
