The only reason to top coat it is that it is UV sensitive, originally it was meant to be used on the underbody of vehicles.
Inside of a van where it will have other materials covering it (flooring, insulation, wall panelling) there is no reason to top coat.

That is what I was thinking. The Lizard Skin insulation stuff looks pretty cool though.

That decking looks nice, but if it were me, I wouldnt. It sounds like once this is down the way you're doing it, it's pretty much down for the duration. Without pulling screws and yanking up boards you're never going to know whats going on under there and I can just about guarantee, POR-15 or not, rust finds a way. I'd find a less troublesome to remove floor covering so you can periodicaly pull it to keep an eye on things. After all, you may have slathered on POR up top, but whats going on on the underside of that floor?

I am going to use silicone on the ribs in the center sections and screws along the edges . The silicone will bond it and keep it from making rattling noise, I think, without making it permanent. I will be able to remove them if I want and reinstall again. I did a test and after a week the board could be lifted with a little effort.

I will also be using POR15 for the under body or some other rust inhibitor.

Thank you for the comments.

They have overlapping flaps at the seams like a dry bag. I'm not saying it's impossible for water to intrude but it's been accounted for and I've never had a problem with it.

Reckon so

I am going to go on craigslist and find some nice seats and use those seat covers. I saw some Maserati seats a guy wanted $1,200.00 for that looked awesome. I offered him $500.00 and he said he would $600.00 only. Not sure if I want to drop $600.00 but..... Maserati seats in the old Van might look cool.......lol

I would go for some late model minivan seats personally. First, they're everywhere so they're cheap. Second, they've usually got dual armrests.

Cool van!

thats a crazy side door. never seen one done like that. I'm guessing they put hinges on a factory slider door?

Yes, hinges on a factory door. Works great but, I think the addition of the shock will make it better. Trying to size one up. Problem has been getting something that would allow the door to swing completely open.

Yeah door threw me for a second. Then I realized it was a slide door converted to a swing out.

Before you drop $$ on lizard skin read up on the DIY lizard skin. I'm hoping to go that route. Nothing like getting the same results for 1/10th the price.

I second the minivan seat idea. Other options I've considered are a nice set of RV seats. I be never set in a Maserati but seem a few around they don't really scream comfort to me.

I like your flooring. I use the big foam flooring puzzle pieces. They are easy. The best part is that they can be removed once a year to sweep out all sand and in my case pancake batter and every thing else that hits the floor. Basically I'd leave your floor floating or easily removable if you can. You would be surprised at how many pounds of dirt wind up under the flooring and it's nice to get it all cleaned out once in a while.
