I did this last week
I searched on this forum for anyone that has installed a Banks Power Pack and could not find anyone that had installed one on their LJ. So I took a chance and purchased one for my 2004 Wrangler Unlimited. The kit included their Torque tube header, Monster exhaust (cat back system), Ram-Air intake, and the Automind programmer at a cost of just under $1500. Banks claims that the kit will gain you 45 horsepower and 47 ft lbs of torque, I have no way of testing that but I will say that I definately feel a difference after installing the kit. I am happy with the results but not happy with the difficulty of the installation of the Torqe tube header. I have been an ASE Certified Technician for over 25 years and have all the necessary tools needed for the installation...it was from hell! Due to the design of the header it is next to impossible to get at a couple of the lower bolts, the tubes are in the way. The directions say to torque the bolts to 25 ftlbs, it is IMPOSSIBLE to use a torque wrench the only way to get on those two bolts is to use a 1/4" drive 9/16 universal socket at an extreme angle and you cannot see or actually touch these bolts! I highly doubt that I was able to tighten these two bolts to 25 ftlbs I just tightened them as tight as I could with a 1/4" drive ratchet, extension and universal socket. If I were to do this again I would probably remove the head and install the header on the bench. I have seen the kit with and without the programmer so after I installed all the parts I test drove the Jeep and did feel a slight increase in power without the programmer, then I did the programming to the Sport mode and drove it again and felt a better increase. My advise to anyone thinking about doing this would be to skip the Torque tube header and definately get the programmer. I don't know how much power you will get without the header but I would try it without first and then if that is not good enough for you pay SOMEONE ELSE to install the Torque tube header.
