Experimented and committed to painting the bare aluminum uprights flat black or light textured bedliner. Finishing the job this weekend; full repaint.

Finished installing my front receiver. Took me about 6 hours to do it, but I'm very pleased that I have it on there now. :D

I built a Jeep Sleeper for my LJ.

And I added a "guest bed" behind the driver's seat for the last camping trip we went on. It worked out great! I managed to add in mosquito netting.

I can pick up the bedding, fold the extensions back, drop the netting off the visors and the rear glass hinges (with it still hanging off the roll bars), and I can go immediately.

Gee I wonder what the differences are in gas mileage for stacking things in and on your 4-dr JK vs pulling an off-road trailer w/a RRT on it. I have a 10ft trailer w/a RRT that is the same height as the roof-line of my JK. I get 17mpg pulling it @ 65-70mpg on flat ground. The more toys I acquire the more I am tempted to put things on top of my JK like Kayaks or 12ft aluminum fishing boats. I suppose it is a matter of weight vs. drag?

Assuming that I live in a house, it would probably be about the same, though you're trading off drag for weight. By the way, mine's an LJ, not a JK. There's going to be differences in the mileage. But since I don't live in a house, it's going to be a LOT more expensive, as I would have to pay monthly storage fees for the trailer.

I'm looking at the possibility of pulling a trailmanor with the Scout (popup with hardsides) if I'm able to swing moving out of my apartment into it this fall, but the way things are looking in the markets, it's not likely this year.

Storage can be an issue. It's great to be able to "set camp." Then use the vehicle to explore or a run about. Less loading and unloading. Trailer with 20gallons of water, 5 gallons of fuel, 20# propane, batteries and Engel..loaded is still well under 2000lbs. Leaves lots of room in the Jeep for people and luggage, etc. All safe, dry, clean and secure. Everything is a compromise I suppose, but camping is much more fun when well-equipped.
I liked your idea of an in-rig bed. Safe dry and off the ground!

Installed the windscreen and wired the four front IPF lights on the GOBI rack. I love the SPOD makes wiring so much easier.
