What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

no retreat, no surrender
pics? sorry didnt mean to seem like i was questioning cause it was a stupid idea. just curious.

I'm sorry..... didn't intend to sound as though I thought that..... I think my manner is a bit abrupt... and sometimes a bit o' the smart ***** comes out in me... Not a stupid question at all.......... I'm 60 - and do/have done a lot of things that a lot of folks find - shall I say, not the norm for the female form..... and when asked why... my stock reply tends to be *because I can*..... My best friend (and husband) likes it that way...

i wish this site had an option like facebook to "Like" a posting lol guess i just have to give most of you a :victory: (wish the even had a thumbs up deal) anywho! im glad this thread is somewhat successful so far, we need a moderator to make it a sticky!

today i took pix of the finished work on the interior, and drove down to meet up with another cherokee owner, he gave me a free d-ring hitch deal, and we talked for an hour or so about our rigs, drove home in the rain after having washed it literally 2 hours before hand  damn arizona monsoon season...anywho... for the pix!
(was feeling a little artsy with the rim pix lol)

Made some mudflaps, a legal requirement if you dont want to get pulled over and have the Jeep defected. After about 6 years I decided not to chance it any longer with a month long trip coming up and 3 weeks of that in Queensland, the state I'm most likely to get defected in :(

^^^build thread? i have a few questions about your rig just from what i can see of the rear...

I dont have a build thread, ask away though and I'll put together covering the details if it needs one or point you to the individual build details. I've owned the XJ 9 years so there is a thread about pretty much everything somwhere :)

how does the swing out tire function? it just looks odd to me, is the hinge on the drivers side?
next would be with your roof rack, it has not sides? i had read that its for your RTT, does the RTT take up the whole roof rack? if not how much room do you have left over and what do you store up there if anything, and how do you secure it.
is that a solar light above the spare?
what sliders are those? and how do you like them? they look a little high to me? but that just may be me, do they offer good protection?
in another thread (cherokee build thread deal) you posted about your OBDII reader and car computer set up. what is the actual screen you use? i guess you would call it the computer.
with dash command do you get Fuel/Air ratio readings? how do you like dashcommand? how much would that be for the comp? i think the dash command was relatively cheap last time i took a look at it...
does it read oil pressure?
and i think that will be it for now :D

oh and also, it looks like you have 3 gutter mounts per side for your roof rack, does that support well with the RTT and you/whoever else in it at night?

Ok, to answer the questions

The tyre carrier is on the passenger side, we drive on the Left down here :) It uses a slam shut latch like on a car door, pull the red lever to open and just slam (push really) shut. Not quite sure what bit looks odd but hopefully that helps.

Yep the roof rack has no sides, try putting a RTT on an XJ when it does, you need to mount the tent higher to get over the sides. I have a roof basket if I need sides but normally I dont, means I can also easily carry sheets of ply and lengths of steel as well and can leave it on all the time and still get in some underground carparks. There is a little room left but I just put my maxtrax up there.

It's an LED light over the spare, It just happens to be pointing up at the moment.

I made the sliders, I like them :) They have a RHS section under the sill like allXJ sliders and these also have a tube section to pivot on and help protect the doors. They mount pretty much like all XJ sliders on the frame and pinch seam, they are as high as they can go and are tucked up under the sill, I think most are.

The screen for the PC is just an ebay touch screen 7" Dash command gives me everything the Jeep ODBII can tell me, that doesn't include oil pressure but does include the AF ratio (I think) I like it, I no longer use my scan gauge and keep it in the toolbox just incase. The PC is an eeepc which are pretty cheap, not sure on the current software prices but it was all built on a budget.

You could recover off the rack with the 3 gutter mounts ;) It works fine for two of us up there, in fact the load is pretty minimal when the Jeep isn't moving and it has no problems with 2 people and the RRT with 6 gutter mounts.

Cheers

I just ordered Spartan lockers for the front and rear of my TJ. Alloy Chromolly axle for the dreaded Dana 35. Maybe the rear end will not leave me walking now. I got prices fron $400 to do both to $1400.00 The $400 job can not be doen until the 29. I need the Jeep ready on the 18 to go to Padre Island National seashore. I might have to tackle the job myself. Any advise??
