what did you do to your trailer today?

Got a little gas this week!

Received the 1 x 2 tube end caps and I am very happy with how they look.
I got a little gas today via a 2 1/2 Gallon Blitz Jerry Can I won off ebay.
I took it and the holder to work this week and pounded out the small dents, sand blasted both and got the painter
Thanks Don to spray some primer on them until I get the red and black top coat shot on them.

They will be mounted on my M116 trailer.

I think I need a bigger truck!
^ looks nice.

Wired up my Grote replacement turn/tail lights tonight. PITA as the color coded wiring from the plug and the trailer side were, um different! Busted out the multimeter and confirmed all Jeep Side connections, the redid the plug end to match the junction box. In the end it was an hour and a half I could have spent on other things, but they work great!!

All my parts are assembled for the final push to finish phase 1 of the "Resale Red Trailer Resurrection". So much paint on this thing, should last for years!!

Greg: Did you have to switch wired in the tail light housing?

On my red trailer, I spent an hour trying to get the lights to work, Checked one red wire and switched it to anouther spot A,B,C,D,E.
and it worked great. I did blow several turn signal fuses on the truck too.

Nope... I used the 7 pin harness that was already in the Jeep, and simply wired the plug end (trailer cable male end) to match the results of my testing. the colour coding on the plug no longer matches the box, but I will never remove the end so it is not an issue unless I loose my diagram.

Works great and no blown fuse! I read that I may need to use a converter (diode) as the lights I have on now are one set of lights that do all functions (running/turn/brake) and I have separate turn and brake/running lights on the Jeep. Apparently it is either built into the board on the LED lights, or what I read is simply wrong...it all works.

Oh and I added some side markers too, trying to keep it all legal (even if my tires do stick out like 3 inches!!

Today I hacked up my new to me Lunette ring. It felt a bit sacrilegious, but in the end, it was a spare that another ExPo member was not using, and it is now getting used albeit in a slightly modified form.

Chop Chop...

I ground off the sides to squeeze the shaft into the receiver extension.

Fits like a glove!

Going to drill this out, and put a BIG grade 8 bolt through this. I will also be welding the end of the receiver extension tube to the shaft. Goint to heat the hell out of it then use a friends Mig to weld it up. Cast needs to be heated to bond I am told, he has welded cast before so I will listen and learn.

Oh and I drove it today for the first time since the refurb began. Got a lot of looks and a few thumbs up. It really stands out!

Hauled it out to a local Jeep "Show and Grime". Was an awesome turnout, and some truly amazing wheelers and ExPo rigs.

^ that does not look easy to do solo.

I worked with My good friend Mike (Wavebreaker) to get the modified Lunette project going. Took me 45 GB minutes to drill a hole in the cast iron with a drill press, about 4 assorted 1/2" bits and a lot of cutting lube! Mike was nice enough to weld the tubes together, bonded really well and in combination with the huge grade 8 bolt... one stout extended tongue was born.

We also made some plans for getting the lid finally attached. Been lazy this week, need to get this completed. Hardware picked up tomorrow, hopefully RTT installed this weekend!

Spent three hours trying to wire the new M116a2 trailer, New 7 blade sealed loom, new grott tail lights, junction box
and wires run hooked everything up and only the right light worked, checked bulbs, fusses, truck plug, " hooked the 101A2 up and it worked fine"
pulled my hair out trying to wire 4 simple tail light wires........................Only to find out the YELLOW wire in sealed plug was bad!

Returned it and waiting for a new one. I could have wired the 4 pin I had but I want to add a hot like from the truck later.

The taillights were wired and ready in 1/2 an hour.
Work great and wrapped with black coil loom.
