what did you do to your trailer today?

^ looking good with the RTT attached. Nice and big too, looks like a 4 person?

Me I set about attaching the lid with the hinges and the latches. Sadly once I got everything marked up, drilled and countersunk in...the bolts to attach the brackets to the tub were too short. Ugh. The place I got them from is only open weekdays, and I have VERY limited options for stainless matching countersunk hardware on a Sunday. Oh well... next week/weekend.

I found out in the process of drilling out the top rail on the M101 CDN that the square channel all around the top of the tub was filled with some sort of cavity sealer? It smells awful, and is still wet after 20 years. Has sort of an oily/waxy consistency, and smells like bilge. No rust in there though!!

Well didnt DO anything. Did though acquire a free piece of lucabond for a lid though. Guy was doing some work at the dealer I work at. Went up to him and said hey, what size sheets does that come in. he said, what do you need. I say 72 inches by 51 inches. There was a piece laying outside his trailer that he measured 51 inches by 76 inches. He says, you can have that piece if you want it, Im gonna scrap it. Heck yes. Keep collecting stuff for it a bit at a time. Opinions on side hinge or front hinge?

Great score, nice guy to give that to you too! I struggled with the front hings or side hinge question. I finally decided on side hinges on the passenger side. More and easier access to the inside of the trailer and it is better to open it this way with the RTT deployed.

Pics if I ever get it done? lol

Me, I picked up a nice lightweight tongue box cheap today. Dee Zee lockable.

I love the steel one I picked up, but for me it is too tall and too heavy empty. It is going up for sale.

So I managed to get some more work done today. The lid is finally mounted...as in permanently. I had to do some extra curricular activities to get it all locked down, but it is very solid. With the new "P" seal installed it is nearly airtight! Might need to install a vent!

I mounted the lid, sorted out and adjusted the latches, and figured out a safety catch for them as well. I installed the lid seal, I also worked on a plan to mount the Dee Zee tongue box. The steel one I got is just too heavy and is bigger than I need...so after all that is it going back up for sale.

I also picked up a pair of Plano lockable, stackable sealed boxes. I love the design, they have integrated tie downs and 4 latches. $19.00 at Wally World. Hate that place, but they are way cheap.

Fit like a glove!

Tent tomorrow? Probably not... this week.

3 more hours today. Handles for the lid, safety pins for the latches, a hasp and padlock ready for install tomorrow when I get some more stainless hardware. I also drilled and fabbed up the extended drawbar for the modded lunette extension. I am really stoked on how this is turning out...custom length and the ability to also use the stock setup if I like. WIN

Tried in vain to locate some aluminum C channel for to mount the tongue box. Found steel, but would rather keep it light. Bought some electrical bits for the wiring too, simple setup with a few LED lights and so on.

Created a base for the tongue box out of 2x3. Glued screwed, filled primed and then undercoated it. I mounted it to the box, then the box to the tongue...awesome fit and light too! I used the leftover foam "P" shaped weather strip I had to seal it up. All I need is to put in the plywood floor now and then I can go to town on the battery install and the 12v wiring. A few external lights, an inter 9 LED light and a couple of utility lights next. Oh and maybe a tent light too.

:)

I can't take credit for much of it. Another memember did it with his 101 and he gave me the info on it, plus I have had a lot of great advice from other memembers.

Thanks
Robert
