what did you do to your trailer today?

Finally put the tub on, finished the wiring, and bolted it together. Made some brackets for the lights, and primed them. Still need to pull the hubs and inspect/pack the wheel bearings, Herculiner(or similar) inside the tub etc...

Debating on painting the tub silver, and the wheels black, to match the tow vehicle...

Heck, the to do list is always longer than the competed list right?

Looking good Chase. I say yes to the silver!!

I managed to get a bit more done today...so close to being done.

Today I managed to get the front leveling supports installed. Mike welded the bungs to some plate and I cleaned them up, mounted them and painted them. Worked out fantastic, nice and solid and no more rocking trailer. Just need to get the rear fold down pair extended and installed. I painted them black to match the trailer frame...but forgot to take a finished pic?

Then I set up the trailer to show the wife and more importantly...the kids!

Kid Approved!! Wife likes it as well, fits all 4 of us. I then installed the last lid attachment for the time being...the lock.

Fugly (Functional-Ugly)... and secure. Back plate and BIG bolts, you would be hard pressed to get that off. I then worked on the tongue box, and added a plywood floor. To add support for the group 24 deep cycle battery. I picked up a battery box too, so next steps are wiring related and of course, lights! I figure 5-7 hours of wiring and I am DONE phase 1. 1000 Watt inverter, 4 LED lights for external lighting, internal box lighting and some LET tent lighting with a dimmer. SCHWEET!

Love the work!
Awesome pic of those smiling faces, I see many trips in thier future.
Where did you get the jacks from?
What was the best price you found on your CVT?

Thanks Mark, coming from you with the quality of your work, that means a lot. I am very stoked on getting out with the kids...and for some solo trips too!

The jacks are from Princess Auto here in Canada (think Harbor Freight) and they are their in house brand...Power Fist (nice). They are 2000# 12" lift weld on style. I picked them up for $22.00 each on sale, 1/2 off.

I paid the list price off of the CVT website for the Mt Hood ($1399.00 I think it was) but was lucky enough to have a local dealer here in Canada only a few blocks away...so no shipping (and he is my buddy Mike at Trekken Offroad).

Yeah, and for that price they work great! Heck for any price they work great!

Yep, and with kids bouncing around, they are almost mandatory!

Spent last weekend out with my 10 yo son JP in our Mt Rainier from CVT.

Even with the parking brake set, and a chunk of 2x4 wedged on the back frame (tipped the RTT/M416 on it's tail once!) there was still quite a bit of shaking/wiggling going on, while JP tried to get comfortable and fall asleep.

Not bad when it's just me, but I'll have to add some jacks before we go as a family.

M101 3/4 Ton Expedition Trailer Build

Well I got some welding done today. Was a bit nervous about doing it, but I have spent the last few days doing some practice welds on scrap material. They are not the best looking welds by no means, but the panel is sold and does not move. Tried to pry the panel away from the bed and it started tearing the metal so I think they are sold. Plus I still need to do the other side of the panel as well.

Well more to come in a few days.

Thanks for looking

You bet... I am able to lift the front of the trailer well past level, so that is a bonus for uneven ground. I also have a set of fold down locking rear legs for added support. They need to be extended as they are about 5 inches short, but they are pretty slick and I got them for a song.

I love that they fold up out of the way and are only like 3 inches when folded.

WOW... lots of cutting!

Me, I did some work on my trailers nose-wheel and rear stabilizer jacks. My buddy Mike had some big C channel and some plate scrap lying around, so we hatched a plan for my swivel wheel I picked up.

Bolts right on in place of the drop leg and the trailer sits level. Just need to paint it and finish it up tomorrow...ran out of light. I also worked on extending the drop down rear legs as well. Well actually Mike did most of the work... but I get to finish it up.

Just need to wrap these up and get them installed! I also picked up the rest of the wiring for my electrical system. Another 9 LED light for inside the tent, and a battery cut off switch etc. That comes next...but maybe not in time for the trip I am HOPING to take next weekend? Got to break it in some time right?

Mounted the aluminum floor not done in picture and bolted on the trailers.
Floor gets painted black tonight if the weather permits.
Drill for the mud flaps and bolt them on.

Now to decide on the box locations.

Also worked on the wiring. I have it 80% done and ready to install. Managed to bring my battery back from what I thought was the dead. Battery Minder saves the day (ok saves me $100+ for a new group 24 deep cycle). Pics of that and the SWEET power/ground distribution box I made up tomorrow.

Oh and Camping this weekend with Mike (Wavebreaker) and his ExPo Woody trailer.

Some great work on this forum.
GregB the wheel assembly looks great.

Chase, Yes Silver with black wheels is the way to go on painting your trailer.
It will look good with the round holes on the trailer and TV wheels.
Matching trailers look awesome.......................Just look at GregB's combo!

I put a coat of Kool-Seal on the roof of my trailer today. It's starting to take shape although you can't really tell from the outside.
