Cutting off wrists doesn't happen, that was a century ago. The biggest deterrent in the UAE is that 85% of the population is on a work-visa and you will be deported after whatever punishment the judge decides. For most people, that job feeds 3+ families at home.
On an experiential level, though, people here are genuinely helpful and kind regardless of their background. The famous Arab hospitality has rubbed off on people.
Most Americans are not very well informed and largely get their facts from click-bait articles and old Looney Tunes cartoons.

Not entirely, we also rely on internet forums, like this one as well as news shows that claim to be for entertainment only.
Lying about your property value isn't illegal, generally, it depends on what you lie about and why. It becomes illegal when your lie supports a fraud to obtain bank loans, inflated insurance contracts and to cheat on your taxes, but then, every adult knows that. If someone did that in the UAE they might hang'em.
Again, trucks are not in season in the US, it's against the law to shoot one so having a "truck gun" is as useless.

OK, now, I would shoot that.
I'd probably use my 12 gauge bullpup, semi auto shotgun with a 20 round magazine, red dot and light attached, but first, I'd have to put on my Army issued flak jacket and vest. Which reminds me, I need to inventory my survival vest and check my ammo.
