What to Look For on LC100 Series

I'm looking at LC 100 series vehicles. I'll probably be looking at the late 90's or early 2000's models (due to price). I know some of these have lockers front, rear and in the t-case. How do I know which are so equipped? Anything I should look out for? Any information is appreciated.

I would look for a white 99' with rear locker and rear A/C. On higher mileage trucks make sure they have the t-belt replacement sticker under the hood, I wouldn't take anyones word for it that it was done.

Uzj100

UZJ100 is the model designation. Both the LC and LX470 (Lexus) are UZJ100's.

98-99 LC has rear e-locker
98-99 LX470 has rear limited slip
00+ LC and LX have TRAC (traction control), VSC (vehicle skid control), and a stronger 4 pinion front diff.

The Lexus has the Active Height Control suspension and a bit more plush.

I think I'm going to have to come in under 20K and under 100K miles for financing purposes (if that's even possible). Am I being unrealistic here? I'm also interested in what to expect from a fuel mileage standpoint.

Just a replacement as a standard maintenance item. You will be able to get under 20k and 100k miles with something in the 99-2000 model years.

I found a super clean 98 with 147K for $14K. Until I drove it through the brush it didn't have a scratch on it. Plan on replacing the front diff. they are known for their penchant to break.

AFAIK the 100's in the US were not available with a front locker. An ARB locker in front solves the breaking diff problem and gives you a front locker.

US models have CDLs. If you find any that have F&R lockers, i'm sure it's safe to say that it's been added. I'm learning as I go with my 100. A great informational site if you're not aware yet: www.ih8mud.com - tons of information.

I can vouch for Rusty's very clean '98. Their '98 with 147K was cleaner, not to mention completely rust & corrosion free (every bolt/part comes off as if it just rolled off the showroom), has rare OEM cloth interior, than my '99 with 69K when I bought it 3+ years ago.

NE/rust belt area rigs are typically priced about 10% less than SW/rustless areas due to the salt corrosion that attacks all undercarriage parts, bolts, etc. If I had to do it over I'd spend the extra 10% to get a non-salt area LC. Like most things it will take you a while to find a gem of a rig...but take your time and cover your bases...

No, they just replace it with the same OEM parts. They work great, as a matter of fact, I have 140k on my original timing belt

I'm a little overdue, I was planning on changing it at 135k...
