I'm REALLY curious what it took you for the locking hubs on the front axle. Parts & did you do it yourself or hire it out?

Do you notice an increase in fuel mileage or power without having to spin that front diff all the time?

Anything else I should know about it?

Always love seeing your truck! Congrats on the little one!

Sonoran Steel's site has all the details. But in short you will need all components less the center chunk from a base model 4wd tacoma. You can reuse your spindles and something else forgot the tech. name. No I notice no difference or increased economy. Well if I had to do it over I would just skip the hubs and go with an ARB to tell you the truth. Almost the same money.

Well here is my old dual battery setup and prep for the new one, the picture of the fuse box tab shows removal of the lower leg support but does not show tat the silver tab in the picture has been removed entirely.

I had to modify the radiator fan shroud to accommodate the new tray. The new tray is wider that the batteries but this may be because it is meant to fit older or newer optima's. One tightened the batteries aren't moving, the NL solenoid was easy to install. I will get another wire to run it behind the fender wall so I don't have an exposed + wire running randomly across the engine bay even though it's only 16".

I have seen this beast first hand.

Very nicely built, but it doesn't only bark. It bites hard too.

The grill is the stock one just painted with bed liner in a can, still a little warped from the accident a while back when the Light Forces went into it. As for the battery tray, a company called Ruff Stuff Specialties. The box was $78, though a little bigger than my optimas but this could be in preparation for the newer or older models. The build quality is top notch and looks to be pretty tough.

for $150 plus paint. I was going to powder coat em but for financial reasons I will just spray paint them like my others.

Thank you for the link! I'm probably going to be doing Die Hard instead of Optima, but the site says they will be making other battery trays soon. I'm just happy I'll be able to neatly fit two into that space and the tray looks like good quality. I'm also looking forward to seeing those Lexus wheels on!

Are you running airbags back there?

I was running air bags though the pas side broke and I removed it, I need to get another bigger sets as I had little info to go on and the ones for the 4runner just won't work. I need to measure ID and int. coil length and call the bag company. When they did work they were super handy.

I run air bags inside my rear coils springs too. I have been running them for a couple years now with no problems. I found their technical support folks very helpful when deciding what size to install. My OME suspension is about 3" taller than stock and they were able to recommend a bag that was 3" taller than the stock 4Runner bags. So far, they have worked out very well. I have them tied together to one air valve so they can transfer air between them when flexing off-road. I run about 5lbs of air for normal driving and air them up to between 15-20 lbs when towing my trailer.

TJM-17 vs ARB?

Hi, first post here, anyway, may I ask you why did you change your TJM-17 for the ARB front bumper? I have been planning on getting that particular one(TJM-17) since I really like it's very low profile. Thanks
