I am surprised by all the variations.
That seems like a lot of work just sorting through all of them.

I really miss the ease at which the older gear boxes turned.
The old er generation of Ford vans seemed so east to turn and I never had a wonder issue with them.

OKIE DOKIE!!

some updates on the steering..

I had a good hard look today as Im still dealing with some wandering in the steering. My new box is definitely tighter but its not perfect.
my pitman arm is not as long so I lost the super tight steering circle.. this annoyed me...
the pitman arm is flatter so it did raise the steering angle closer to the draglink.
I got to looking and I think if I drill a longer pitman arm from the top I can flip the steering draglink and be almost 100% parallel and still have good clearance with everything.

so then the hunt for a 36 spline pitman arm thats as long as the one on the 32 spline.

some google ****... and I found it.

MOOG K80796!!!! ordered and waiting on it to show up wednesday!!

stock van moog k80783 is 5.2in long 32 spline

longer van with end 7* reamed for stock D60 moog k80795 6.5 long 32 spline

stock dually van end 7* reamed for stock D60 moog k80785 5.2 long 36 spline

longer dually van end 7* reamed for stock D60 moog k80796 6.5 long 36 spline

I was looking to slow down the rack speed but if I read correctly the dually box would speed it up..

You can also just lengthen the arm you have. Weld in the spacing and angle you want, angle cut some grooves for weld to bite into and then just wrap that whole thing in weld to bind it together. Might not want to run it long term but it could be a good test to see if that's actually the problem. It's cast so definitely wrap the whole thing in weld.

Yes the dually box only speeds it up 1/4 turn either way. So it's actually not noticable till your doing large input slow speed

I got the longer arm today and drilled it from the other side to create a modified style of a high steer.

Works
PERFECT!!
FINALLY for the first time since I swapped the front axle it doesn't have hardly any wander or bump steer!!

Here's the short dually arm compared to the longer one. Definitely gives me back my full range of sharp steering.

And totally misses hitting the frame or anything under the van. I had a fear the lower radiator hose would rub.

It's even a better look. Things are separated and don't look like they will hit each other during articulation and full steering..

Super happy with it!! No more weird suspension unloading and chasing the front end around!

Arms comparison

7* reaming from the top and I actually never even touched the factory big end bore..

So this is 100% viable to drill from the opposite side and correct steering angles!

Camping last week at Tar Hollow Chillicothe Ohio.

The bat wing and the propane fireplace were absolute game changers as was the sand mat I stretched out to keep us from sloshing all the mud up. I got to say I'm super impressed with how easily it rinsed out in the creek!!!

Also saw on a YouTube channel somebody had a USB rechargeable battery powered water faucet and bought one so I put my 5 gallon container underneath one of the seats and Rihanna piece of rigid nylon hose out I'm really impressed with it people are saying they're getting 30 to 40 gallons worth of water pumped before they have to recharge some folks are saying they go the entire season before they have to recharge. Somebody on YouTube also did a test and it was able to pull water vertically up 8 ft out of a water container so I don't worry about it drawing 6 ft from underneath my backseat!!

Big project score today!!

1996 cargo box van rear fuel tank all I need to do is extend my hoses. It even came full of fuel and with the mounts $40!!

I mocked up my transfer case this week to see how much I needed to cut the tank and realize that I'm going to lose about 8 gallons and my front mounting point so I would definitely have to rework that I began looking online for fuel tanks and got lucky there was one for sale about an hour away!!

Going to try to get things swapped around over the course the next two weeks and then I can get my transfer case mounted and get drive shafts done and she'll finally be true four-wheel drive lockers front and rear!!

Oh and I finally put my pinupart on I figured out where I wanted it!! A buddy mine's wife made this for me several months ago and I've been trying to figure out where I wanted to put it!

I have one of the USB water pumps you speak of. Works great as long as you don't forget to bring the charger haha. I also have a manual one I keep in a tote just in case.

We did some mocking up of the new tank yesterday.. 15 gal of free diesel.. 4 acorns and one dead mouse later the tank is clean and I know how its going to fit.

gotta cut the spare tire mount out and pull the rear hitch to install the new tank. but it should all be plug and play once I get it installed.

gonna get some more hose for the feed and return. and the tank even has a port for the diesel heater that wont let me run the tank dry.. the dip tube only goes 3/4 the way down... so cant run the furnace on less than 1/4 a tank!

then its pull the stock tank. connect hoses and wires..

then transfer case!!!!!!

already ordered the shifters...

Omg so my friends wife did the pinup art for Yolanda and I fell in love with it.

Today she put her Miss Guided Adventures pinup on redbubble to sell..

I told her husband I'd she made me a store I would buy one of everything..

Basically I did...

Cannot WAIT for this stuff to come in and hit the car show circuit like the guys wearing airbrushed art of their classic cars!!

Ive been terrible at updates..

Went and got her aligned and then drove 1,230 some odd miles to Michigan and back towing the trailer!!

They ended awesome toes just fine doesn't like some of the bigger hills but I didn't slow down nearly as much as folks towing bigger trailers can't really complain too much at all!!

It is time to charge my air conditioning for the season and I'm still looking at possibly doing a caster correct as I did not get the numbers from the guys when they got her aligned the latest I feel like I can use a little bit more than two and a quarter caster

Oh the blanket came in and so did a new shirt!!
