    Discovery II regear

I have 4.7 gears w/35's and am very pleased with off road abilities and I'm running about 2700rpm at 65mph. Any lockers in the truck? You may want to concider the cost of those also if your budgeting upgrade prices. Hope this help, Pad

    Random Snow Rig Pics

HillbillyE, looks like a fun time. Haven't been out snow wheelin this year, unless you count the 17" we got in the cities in Dec. and the chaos at the apartment complex I work at. At least 50 cars stuck everywhere in every parking lots. Ended up just making my own roads across the grass. We...

    CV joint diagnosis

One method I've used to check CV's is full turn wheel, light gas and light break at same time. As the vehicle moves forward you will here the bearings in cv click if they have play in them. Turn wheel full turn other side and continue. You may need a second ear outside truck to listen at the...

Thanks for the update Chuck! I've been researching similar situation for MN. Beginning to work with the DNR, forestry, and MN4WDA to come up with a more user friendly map for MN. Hoping sometime to link to the 5-state area for extended trips or pass-through travelers. There's alot of info out...

    U.P. Overland 2009

Awesome trip! We got back into town Mon.@5:30, just in time to be reminded what 6 lanes of traffic looks like, saw more cars in a second than we saw all week. Saw lots of troopers out, luckily most where already writing tickets, got lots of double takes but no pursuits. Really spectacular...

Lance, If you havent changed it yet, do yourself a favor and loosen the clamps that hold the rigged metal heater hoses (runs across the top of motor) this will allow attaching the new hoses a little less frustrating. Good luck, Pad Oh, and carrying a piece of scrap bike innertube with...

    Fluids Question

Personally, I use a Rubbermaid tote. I can fit the 1-Gal. size jugs in it standing up (anti-freeze/ATF/motor oil/qt.gear) and have room for spare belts/hoses/rags and other misc. field repair parts. Keeps all the messy stuff together should anything leak. Rubbermaid is more flexible and will...

    ARB Deflator Woe

As a rule of thumb, I never trust those to shut off. Ask how I know. I dont have the ARB type however but would think removing the valve or loosening it while on the trail might be an opportunity for mishap. I do carry extra valve stems and housings though just in case.

Limb lifters, Branch busters with ARB bumper

Really love the springs on them, smart move. Also prefer clamping rather than drilling. Do you that use these take them off when driving on city roads? Hate to see a freeway deer hit with them on! Messy.

    Detroit 'Hop'

OK, I didnt think anything was breaking but I sure did do 'what just broke' inspection after the first couple times. Fearing what I may find laying in the road. Good testimony Greg. On the bright side sure helps do a shakedown test.

    Detroit 'Hop'

Occasionally my Detroit locker (locked until opened) doesn't open so smooth. Happens at slow speeds (5mph>on pavement), making a turn, go to accelerate and WHAM! I wouldn't think twice about chirping, but when the rear end goes to 'unwind' its like driving over a curb. Tire air time! I'm not...

    wheel bearings

I thought I saw an alternative parts list on a Canadian LR site, Attowa Land Rovers? Not sure on spelling. Or you could check on Terri-Ann's site, I have found that starting on her site usually puts an end to all the searching. Happy hunting!

Artistic Shots- Well thought out, framed (positioned), artistic shots only please.

Here's a cool one I took this summer while doing the 'UP adventure weekend' (in completed adv. section). Didnt really realize the image until I got home, nor did I ever hear that this is a 'known' image. Any Yoopers want to comment? "The spirit of the mountain reveals itself" or "the hills have...
