Sounds like the vehicle was high centered in the snow. You have to get the packed snow out from underneath the vehicle (a lot of shoveling) in order to get the weight back on the tires. Only then the Maxtrax or any other similar product will be able to get the vehicle unstuck.

Got a good look when i enlarged the photo on PB. Thanks! Looks like it's working just fine for you. Maybe they(ARB) enlarged the opening on the newer bumpers. On mine ('02) the rope would definitely drag the lower edge of the opening with a standard hawse fairlead.

I had similar symptoms when i had water trapped inside of the motor. This was because i had mounted the winch bottom forward without relocating the drain hole plug.

I think the clutch start feature is only found on trucks sold in the USA? At least all of the trucks i've seen in here don't have that.

In defence of SPOT, i think the auto renewal policy is there partly to ensure continuous service for those individuals that travel longer periods of time without the possibility to renew their subscription. The same would apply to someone forgetting to renew before leaving on a trip.

I'm running that exact size Toyo MT on my Hilux. Compared to the 265 GY MT/R's i ran previously these are much less noisier and offer similar or better grip on all surfaces.

I think an engine heater combined with electrically heated windshield (I know that Ford offers this as an option on their car lineup in this part of the world. Not sure of other manufacturers.) are a good way to keep the wipers defrosted.

The later versions of MapSource are only compatible with a Garmin GPS-device as ThomD stated in the previous post. You could try an older version or different software.

I'm running 2 Optima redtops in my rig and have no need for a third battery just for winching. Unless you're going to use a lot of electric devices with the motor turned off, i'd say you'll be fine with just the two batts.
