I currently only have on the back, but I will get another when I get a fridge.

I did drill and used self-tapping screws. That part worked great. Getting the lock to align was the pain. Thank goodness for the Dremel Tool.

I also thought of this to secure the tools. I got this at a luggage store and used it to secure a soft bag on my scooter.

I got bicycle seat cables to secure the propane and gas cans to the propane tank pad lock.

Again, not super secure, but will prevent some bone-headed kid from walking off with them.

And speaking of stuff that should have been part of the original design, this was a fast and easy addition. <more drilling tho...>

VIN number?

OK in my battle with the state, they now want a VIN tracing of the VIN on the tongue of the trailer... I don't have one, just the VIN plate on the camper. Did anyone find a VIN on the frame?

I am so close to pulling the VIN plate off my 1966 Nimrod camper (now a utility trailer) that is already registered and calling it good. Heck, I would have the only 1966 Conqueror in the US ; )

The only numbers i have found are the one on the data plate.

Hey, I'm telling you, just take the photos of my frame build in, and tell them you home built it and here's the evidence. ;)

I find these situations so frustrating. I understand the point of having regulations for trailer manufacturers. But on the other hand, when somebody is allowed to home build something with little oversight... it just seems sometimes like not being able to see the forest for the trees.

So when I got my trailer the poles that dean gave me are replacements of the originals that he was missing so they would not fit in the compartment between the water tanks. I cut the back of it open and modified a fence post and with rivets and RTV it is on there really tight and should also keep the water out. Now my poles fit great.

Stamp one matching the plate, then trace it. :)

FWIW when MISF & I registered our Cheep Utility Trailer (home built) the gal told us to stamp the CA state assigned number in the frame on the tongue, and then once more in someplace that only we knew about. That seems like a good idea so I've since done it to the trailer that I inherited from my grandfather and will be doing it to the TrailBlazer as soon as I find the existing number (which is MIA).

I'm confused... I'm not sure what you've done there and how your poles now fit.

I had fit issue too. The pole access was behind the license plate and scraped on the bottom of the bumper coming out. Getting them back in was worse and a real PITA. Was that the same issue?

I solved it by putting the license plate on hinges, drilling a 2 1/2" hole in the bumper, and fabbing a grommet out of fuel line. In and out works great now.

He had non-Conqueror poles that were longer.

This is what I did with a hinge and hasp from Home Depot:

Yup. Same issue. I put the hinges on the top and drilled the hole in the center behind the plate. Will post pix when I get a chance.
