Expo Calendar

Okay, it was mentioned in the artistic shots thread to start a calendar. So here we go. I will get the designs done and get them created with Cafe Press. Costs will be a bit higher so we can sell them on as "as needed" basis, not order 1000. If sales go well, I will order in bulk next year and get costs down.

Now on to the good part.

There are way too many shots in that thread and we don't have permission from the photographers, so obviously we need only 12 plus a cover shot. SO here is your oppertunity.

PHOTOGRAPHERS: Submit your photos to this thread. The same rules, artistic, thought out photos etc. etc. Your logo may be in the photo, but no more than a small logo please. Not a watermark over the entire photo and don't interfear with the image. Also, please do not put a border on your photos. The template for Cafe Press allows for some stretching and trimming to make a full page print, I would hate to mess up a nice border with this trimmed. If there are issues with image sizes, I will apply a black border to make the images work. I will contact you via PM if any modifications are made that effect your print to get permission. If you do not reply, I will not use your photo.

Here is the caviat, THESE PHOTOS WILL BE PRINTED AND USED TO CREATE A PROFIT. Cafe Press charges a fee, so they make a profit. If you post your photo here, you agree to allow printing of your photos and you authorize me to use them for these calendars. It is not first come first served, so keep posting, I will collect pictures even after the first run calendar. When they are ready to order, I will create a post in the for sale thread.

Submit away, and if you see one in the other thread you like, PM the poster for permission and then post it here. I must see the permission, so please forward it to me or email me.

***Expo Mods - If at any time you want or need input into this calendar, I understand, just PM me and we can chat as needed. I love publication of great photos, so I am happy to do this.

I'm also thinking that if we get our photos used, we should get a free calendar :elkgrin:

Limiting it to pictures without vehicles only seems kind of un-Expo to me, and who cares? It's just a photo, don't 'donate' one if you feel as if you should be reimbursed for it.

ExPo already does a calander every year. Christian, aka 2aroundtheworld puts it together and then members vote for the 12 they like best.
The link and rules associated with it. If we are to do another calander it should be something different from what Christian already does, and we should get the blessing from Scott B. first to do this as we are using his forum.


It would also be better if the full res. shot was emailed to SilverBullet and used instead of pulling a compressed jpg from a web page. Actually pulling a compressed jpg from here will more than likely be too small to use with Cafe Press. I'd also encourage the use of a one time use waiver. NAAP has a bunch of simplified forms we could use.

Members typically send me the pictures by email and I post them all up for people to see and choose.

I would however be happy to pass the project along to someone else (SilverBullet) if you are interested to manage it.

Christian's calander is staring me in the face right behing my comp at my work desk...VERY quality, and I really like how it is set up (vote etc), and how it captures great landscapes but still has vehicles in everyone.


Christian, the only thing I suggest for next year is to put a small caption with the photos so we know where they are taken, maybe a little story behind them.

For everyone else, sorry, I have a huge problem stepping on someone else's toes. If there already is one, then we stay with that. I will work with Christian and see if I can help. My intent was very similar to his, and I would have requested full res, but that is a mute point now.

Sorry guys. I should have explained that we already have a calender including vehicles. My fault, not Silver Bullet's.

When I piped up about making a calender... I meant from the other photography threads... like random scenic shots or artistic shots. I love my ExPo calenders, but the photos in them tend to focus on the vehicle. Maybe a calender to focus on the reason why we are out there?

My thought was to work with him and offer options. One artistic, one vehicles, and heck, if wanted maybe even one of the family pictures... just brainstorming out loud.

As I said, I am happy to transition that over to you if you would like to drive this effort this year! Last year it was very difficult to make it happen as I was traveling through Africa...

The only thing is I suggest that we keep the competition model. I think it's very exciting and fun for the members to submit the pictures and let everyone decides...
