Kicking around the idea for a 1g Monty...

    1. I don't know 2. Not sure 3. I am sure you can put whatever you have the money and time for. I would personally love to see someone stuff a small block chevy motor in one! 4. I know that the second gens are very resistant to rust. I am sure that this carried over from the first gen platform...

Let's talk about spark plugs....3.5L Montero

I installed a reusable one when I did the work. Thank god. I still like to clean things up a bit when I get in there though. I am OCD about that stuff.

Let's talk about spark plugs....3.5L Montero

Wish it was that easy to change mine. I have a 3.0 LS. I had to remove the upper plenum and clean the contact area before putting it back on with a new gasket. Still did the plugs and wires with gasket in about 1.75 hours.

    Jerry can holder/ mount options

Nice, I think I will go with a set up like you and off roader have. On a side note, I found a Disco at the local pick and pull that had a ladder on the back. Only thing is that they wouldn't sell me the ladder unless I bought the whole rear door. I was disappointed to say the least.

More goodies for mu gen II.5!

That's the nicest looking Gen 2.5 on here IMOHO. Too bad you are on the other side of the country. Bet it looks better in person.

You can take it out even easier when you unbolt the driveshaft. Piece of cake then.

    Welding on a vehicle

Also, if the vehicle has tires on it and nothing else besides the welder is touching it then you should not have an issue either way. Haven't you guys ever heard that a car is the best place to be during an electrical storm? I think that if there ever has been an issue with frying electronics on...

    Wheels and MPG?

To see a $200 difference in gas savings will take a very long time. You may never actually be able to justify the expense of the new wheels based on fuel savings. That said, if you like the wheels then I see no reason why you shouldn't get them.

Need vehicle suggestions for around $3000

I'd have to say a Generation 2 Montero as well. Very reliable, easy to work on, has aftermarket if you know where to look, comfortable, very inexpensive, and probably the most capable off road vehicle in stock form that you can get based upon my experience. With 3000 dollars you can buy one, get...

    Manual hubs=light flash

Thanks Ray. I searched in the realm of manual hubs. I looked over those threads. I will do some more troubleshooting tomorrow.

    Manual hubs=light flash

No, Montys are not all time AWD. I do appreciate the help though. I think the issue has to do with vacuum to the front differential diaphragm somehow now that I think about it and a possible intake leak. Or maybe a vacuum blockage somewhere. I am positive it is not mechanical or electrical...

    Finally got a winch!!

For the most part, winches are designed with water resistance in mind. Consider the fact that they get rained on, you go through puddles, etc. I think that it would be fine to ford through water with it below the radiator. I wouldn't keep it under water for longer than needed though.

    Bumpstops

I cut around 3/5ths of it off. Left enough for it to still do it's job. Works pretty well.
