I was thinking more of the right side of the fridge against the right side of the hatch opening, not the rear of the vehicle. I know pn my WJ, I cant have my slide next to the wheel well, or it wont slide out; I have to put it about 2" away for it to clear the side of the hatch.

If you go with the slide lock, will you need to reposition the slide? The added height, and the curvature of the rear hatch; will that affect the slide?

Aaron, This won't apply to your specific design, but I thought I'd throw it out there. These are the straps I use from Home Depot, $8 for two, 5' straps, one on each end. HTH, and good luck on the re-design!
