    Container and 110 with rtt

Depends on the height of the 110 and the type of RTT. A standard height truck will fit with a RTT. Once you lift the 110, you will need a high-cube. However, you can just take the RTT off, and strap it to the front wall

    1988 Samurai Tin Top.

Nice work. Those little trucks are super capable with just a rear locker and good tires. The winch will take you the rest of the way

    2015 discovery sport

I just spent a few days in the Discovery Sport in Iceland. A well-built car that performs better than its competition in the dirt/ice/snow. It is a competitor to the X3 and Audi Q3, not the Wrangler, XTerra or 4Runner. They will sell a ton of them, and I hope they do- profit and volume from the...

    Two Latvians overlanding south

Great updates, sorry to hear about the tires. Your experience with them is certainly unusual, as we have sets on four different vehicles, and no flats. Coicidentaly, Stephanie and I just circumnavigated Iceland with a Defender that had Coopers and no flats. Cooper is known for puncture...

Considering a G... Help me decide if and which

I see that as too much for the early 500s. About 30-35k max for a nice example. When the economy tanked, all of these trucks were cheaper, but now, everything is back up. Even clean Europa G320s will fetch 30k. It all depends on the condition. I still see these vehicles as a value. What can...

    Overland Journal: Discovery I, 5-speed

Got the Discovery back from the shop, and the ride has been transformed. Most of the vibrations are gone, although I am experience some from the rear driveshaft at about 70mph. The change in castor is noticeable and the steering more direct, but not as bad as anticipated. Most important, the...

L322 RR for DD and light overland duty

They are brilliant. We have enjoyed ours for years, and it has been near flawless. Extremely capable and many are equipped with a rear locker. Easy to fit a 33" tire.

Considering a G... Help me decide if and which

I prefer the earlier 463s, particularly the turbo diesels and the 3.2L gas. They were built at the high water mark for MB quality and are far more serviceable and reliable than the newer trucks. They also have sufficient comfort and refinement for a daily driver. I have owned a ton of trucks and...

    Red Wing Heritage Boots

I was the guy that ended up with the rejected Red Wing pair. I stuck with them for a few months, and now they are like slippers, and I wear them almost daily. Nice to wear a pair of boots that feel they will last a decade.

    Paint vs Wrap

I wrapped my G-Wagen. So much of it has to do with the wrap material quality, 3M being the best we have found. We will also likely wrap our new BJ74. My overall impression is that the wrap is ultimately only a short term solution. About three years.

Rumor of Synthetic Winch Rope Issues in Cold Weather?

Exactly, although synthetic can crush a drum that is too thin. We crushed one like a can at nearly 12,000 lbs.
