I have had very little time to feel it all out so to speak. I only drove it about 30 miles so far. The camper does not overwhelm the truck at all and it drives and rides very well. My F250 has the "Camper Package" (rear sway bar and overload leaf) so sway is minimal. The overloads are just...
Ok, so I didn't get talked out of it. Picked up the 2014 825 that we had been looking at for a pretty good deal.
Some of the things that lead me to go with the Lance for our frequent travels are:
1750lb dry weight
Aluminum frame and insulated composite walls
Double pane windows
30 gallon fresh...
They layout looks nice for sure but I won't consider anything bigger than the 825 at all. The 825's size and weight is at the limit of what I'm comfortable with.
Going from a SMB the 825 will have more space for the two of us. I think I am more concerned about the camper holding up to the abuses of off pavement and 4wd roads.
Great info from everyone, I appreciate it. It seems a few of you don't hesitate to push the limits in a hard side camper.
I'm still contemplating the choice right now.
Basically the price of the Lance really has me leaning that way right now. It's $5,500 cheaper than the Hallmark. After seeing...
Hello all,
So we're avid off the beaten path travelers and almost never stay in a campground. We spend most of our time on the backroads of Utah, Colorado, California, Nevada and Oregon. We sold the SMB about 6 months ago for various reasons and are now looking into slide in camper options...
It sounds like the glow plug relay. A simple fix.
Good luck on the Hallmark adventure today!! Very interested to hear about it since we are leaning heavily towards a Hallmark Milner.
My new to me rig. Its been an exhausting search trying to find a well cared for, low mileage 7.3L. 2002 with only 110k miles and it's immaculate. It will be the platform for our next travel rig.
Thanks for the input. I'm aware of the transmission being the weak point on these trucks. This one hasn't been used for towing that much but I have already figured that I will have the tranny bulletproofed when the time comes. Perhaps even before it causes issues.
Thanks man!
I regret selling the SMB but at the time it was the right decision. Things have turned around and once again I will be building up a rig for long off the beaten path trips. Although I didn't have the 6.0L issues many had when I had the SMB, I was always worried about it when...
Well it seems that this truck might be mine after all. Long story but here it is. Hopefully i'll take possession of it the 1st week of Dec.
2002 F250 4x4 XLT 7.3L
Immaculate with only 110, 000 miles!!
Still going to do a few things to it. Lift, bigger trans cooler, tires and possibly regear...
We recently went to the Hallmark factory north of Denver to check out their product. We were very impressed with the materials, construction, design and options available. Perhaps on the upper end of the price range for pop up campers (excluding XP) but it seems the price is worth it. At this...
Thanks for the info!
Back to the search again for the right truck. Due to a lack of proper paperwork on the seller's end the deal is off. So frustrating, it was the perfect truck for what I wanted to do. ugh!
Thanks,
I'll check out BDS. I do happen to have two respected spring shops where I live so I imagine I could have custom rear packs built or modified if I needed.
After searching for months for a fairly cherry F250 with a 7.3 I believe I found one. I plan on doing a moderate lift (4") and having a new Hallmark Milner on it 90% of the time. We do a lot of off pavement driving and a fair bit in 4 lo.
I have looked through other posts etc regarding lifts...
