Great platform. Do they make any school buses with a real passenger/copilot door and seat? I’ve seen the Turtle Top Van Terra style shuttle buses that have that. Not sure on a school bus body in that style.
Nice construction on those cabinets. Looks like some kind of sintra/plastic panels riveted on the forward facing sides? I see a plastic film on the rear of the sink cabinet. Is that another material? Always trying to learn more about different construction approaches.
I know the cool kids are all swapping old Chinooks onto Tacomas and Tundras, but has anyone ever swapped a MIRAGE?! Seems like the longer front bunk would look proportionately better on a larger cab truck. Also amazing feature on these is the swing-up rear hatch that gives you an instant awning...
Dang, that's a lot to drop considering all you've already done. I'd call around for a second opinion. I had a shop give me a similar diagnostic on a vehicle once, then I took it to the "specialty" shop for that make, and the guy said. something along the lines of "well...they all do that, so...
Hmm... weird there’s no ford door tag. You can check the rear axle for a small id tag, or other markings. Probably not LS, but would help with adventuring.
Not local enough to crawl under it, but looks like the rare sport package (black steering wheel & trim) with the KDSS system.

Nice setup. I keep looking around for 4wd rv/camper solutions, seems hard to beat a pickup with a FWC camper. Dedicated RV rig is nice, but loses the utility options of a big vehicle.
Curious on the needing more room for kids, is that because now there are too many to fit in the back seat? Or...
It’s interesting how this was marketed in the US as some kind of luxury lady-SUV. I’m glad more people don’t realize it’s a rad 120 platform LC Prado. As a buyer I see these as undervalued a lot compared to 4runners & FJCs. It’s a solid platform that’s bigger than my ‘83 FJ60, which I used to...
Woah! Was yours longer than 18 feet long? Guess adding in some reinforcement to that area should be on the list. I'm amazed the MT above didn't break with a moto on the rear hitch!
There's something great about the looks on this that really goes with the "fugly boxy expedition rig" aesthetic. A little bit of 5-bar tread plate and an olive drab paint job and this thing would be even better. 18' long! Not mine, but kinda wish it was...
I've eyed a couple older Explorer Savana AWD conversions for sale. Seem like a decent start with the AWD and raised top. Might need to remove some of the limo interior and exterior ground effects eventually.
