Anyone try one of these before? Rhino-Rack Foxwing Car Awning 31101

There's no gap between the opening side of the case and the awning fabric, so no water gets in on the business side. Whether water gets into a gap between the back edge of the case and your truck/camper is entirely a matter of the mounting. My Foxwing case is mounted solid and flush against...

Anyone try one of these before? Rhino-Rack Foxwing Car Awning 31101

You don't need most of them if the wind isn't blowing hard. Heck, if you can convince yourself that the wind isn't going to blow, you don't need any of them. (You might not, however, want to then fall asleep, drive off, go fishing, or otherwise stop attending. ;) )

Anyone try one of these before? Rhino-Rack Foxwing Car Awning 31101

Yep. $584.10 for the awning itself. Terribly confusing, intentionally or not. Still a cool unit. I'm very pleased with mine.

Awning for the back of my GX470

The swing door on the GX might get in the way, but it's perhaps worth looking at the Shady Boy awning: http://www.shadyboy.com/the-awning/ A bit bigger than you want, but the "no legs" preference is a bit of a problem, so I don't have another suggestion. Good luck. I've been using a silicon...

Bare minimum upgrades for hundy for light/moderate off-road use

Yep. It only hooks to the rear receiver, which is really limiting. EXCEPT, if you have other suitable trucks with you, or expect one to happen by, you can often use them to winch off of and that will get you back out of whatever you drove into. If yours is the factory hitch, it's a pretty sturdy...

What can I say? It's my job; it's what I do. Better go get today's harebrained idea ready for you. Work, work, work . . .

Bare minimum upgrades for hundy for light/moderate off-road use

You certainly sound like you are going about this in a level-headed manner. In my opinion, having used a 2000 and a 2005 for overland travel, here's what I think. Note that I pretty much agree with the earlier comment about the average truck being overbuilt. (I've personally overbuilt several...

    rotomoulding

Yeah, it seems like a great idea, and I was really hot to try and make this work several years ago. And I did some research which, as best I can remember, matches your assessment of the strengths and weaknesses. There were enough big rotomolded tanks to make me think that the size could be...

Bare minimum upgrades for hundy for light/moderate off-road use

People will come out of the woodwork to help you, but here's my advice after having had two of them . . . You can make a lot of progress by putting on the more aggressive tires of your choice (possibly in a little bigger size, but you don't need to go crazy as Hundreds already blessed with some...

    Uro Camper Biwak

It's very nice. Has anyone come across a drawing or dimensions to help determine the lengths and widths of the different protrusions to help determine the different things it will fit? (It apparently fits in an F-150 crew cab . . . given the hundreds of thousands of those they sell every year...

Hi, Buddy . . . If we're talking about the folding steps for going up to the roof, they're commonly sold for firetrucks and similar vehicles. I got mine from here: http://www.realworktrucks.com/service-truck-hardware/folding-footsteps-and-handles.html Stay safe, Mike

    Dodge Durango: sing the praises

I've got no vested interest in anything Durango, but I don't think there's any FIAT in it. I believe the truck is most closely related to the Mercedes GL-series, as it springs from the days of the Daimler-Chrysler linkup. FWIW, the Durango just won a five-truck comparison test in the current...

Possible to run an induction stove?

The built-in cooktop in my Sprinter camper is a 1500 watt induction unit: It works very well. No worries, of course, off of shorepower. It also runs fine off my ProSine 2.0 inverter/charger connected to a 300 AH AGM battery bank. The issue is, of course, that the rate of discharge from your...

How much heat does a gas range generate ""BELOW"" it?

i have a similar situation with a drawer full of stuff immediately that never gets hot under the one-burner Princess cooktop in the XV-JP. Also had no problem with a nice two-burner Dickinson in the Sprinter. I think you're good to go.

    Headroom of tall sprinter

The interior height of several finished NCV3 Sprinter conversions is given as 75" or 76", which is pretty much in line with official "maximum standing height" of 76.4". To get this height, though, you'll need to use a thin flooring and put the ceiling cover right onto the ribs. Figure to lose...

Camper Builder Darrin Fink (RUF) Gets Well-Deserved Two Minutes of Television Fame

You could have knocked me over with a feather. I had the TV on in the background while doing computer work, and on this Travel Channel show Mega RV Countdown, they started talking about the "Ranch Hand RV" and there was Darrin with his old U1300 Mog Camper, driving it around his ranch. Darrin...
