The Dana Super 60 is the beefiest front axle in any truck or SUV sold today. Great axle donors for rock buggies and jeeps. Freespin kit is already on the axle. Warn hubs are less than $300. High pinion. Yukon, ARB, Detroit lockers available. Thick fabbed covers are everywhere...
Next time I'm broke, I'm taking out a brodozer, and then suing.
Seriously though, I get cut off and brake checked once a year by someone looking to get paid by a company truck. Won't be long until these crack heads start targeting overloaded campers.
There might be a small block 7.0, but the pistons I held in my hands were for a 7.3 assuming that the predictable short stroke is predictably short.
Rumor mill says it's a push rod big block 7.3. We're already building 455's based on the 6.2, so the 6.2 based 7.0 is plausible. But the big...
I've never seen Shell Rotella in bulk around here.
My oil comes in a 300 gallon jug. Lol. I think we're rocking Gulf 15w40 right now. 15w40resists shearing well, and little semi truck engines are easy on oil. Many drink it quicker than it wears out. So, that's kind of a weird oil...
Nope. Real solid truck. Body rust was the only downside to my 2008.
Lifts over 3" need exhaust mods or skinny drive shaft. Cut the crossover brace and realign the down tube. Remove the springs and work the suspension up to check. Bds is my favorite gas lift kit. Opt for the cheap shocks...
I see a dozen POS chevy's with their headlights aimed at the moon and their rear suspension resting on the bumpstops, for every properly equipped truck.
Today I passed a brand new Expedition pulling a 26' travel trailer. Not even close to level. I'd love to see them stop in the rain. Same...
Nope. Completely different ride. Those are all nearly medium truck chassis. I'd still default to preferring truck though.
But the vans exist because they're cheap and short. Truck shaped box trucks are a bit more cozy, and can be had in crew cab.
Glock 23. I find that .40cycles better dirty than 9mm.
Don't sweat the carbine mags. You won't be reloading. The one pmag in the rifle is plenty. Stick with AR's. I just built a Larue ultimate upper kit in .300blk, 14" for under $1000.
A 6.5' Capri is about 1700# with the extended bed. A Camplite 6.8 is around 2100#. Decent options, I'm guessing only a couple hundred pounds more for 8' versions.
The Econoline chassis and suspension dates back to the 70's. Back when we didn't care about dying in fireballs of twisted metal. While the ones I saw being built, were well built, I'm so glad that factory makes Super Duties now. I have no idea how Econolines passed safety standards for...
Yep, it's up to us to get trained.
You can't force people into it, because then what counts as ''training'' would have to be quantified. And the evil in our government would make it impossible eventually.
Peak Final charge sucks. It eats seals and gaskets, then leaks. I've also seen perfectly good seals leak that stuff. It makes a rock hard permanent stain on the engine. Most notably the compound coolant rails on v16 Mitsubishi's and MTU's. Constant warranty complaints about leaks...
Make sure you add tongue wt to the trucks wt to see where you stand within the GVWR. I want 20% on that tongue so the trailer won't porpoise the truck.
So they can produce more overpriced turds?
Cut prices 75%. $80,000 for a dinky little shed built trailer is ridiculous. The hobo shacks in the for sale section of this forum bring me great amusement. ''Rebuilt surplus trailer with rtt, only $20,000! Great deal.''
