    How important is GVWR?

I disagree. Todays trucks are overrated. Max them out and they're dragging tail with no weight on the front axle at all. I've experienced all kinds of trucks lose almost all front axle braking due to overloading. They just lock the front up and go straight to ABS. Unlevel trucks are...

Towing a 4,000 pound camping trailer. Tacoma or F150?

F150. Towing over 50% capability sucks. 3000 is a good number for a Taco. I have a 250 for just 6800# loads. Although a small slide in camper might be in my future instead. Mileage hasn't mattered even once in my entire life.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

They were just cheap junk. Ford didn't bother trying to compete with toyota. That's all they were meant to be. Hopefully they tried this time.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Because most of the people with little trucks only bought them because they couldn't afford big trucks. I never met anyone with an overloaded S10, Ranger, or Blazer that wouldn't trade straight up for an F250. And I've met tons of people with those awful little trucks. Now they're the...

    privacy tents\shower tents feedback

Ick!? Why do they have floors? LOlz. Nasty. Made my own, it's just a steel triangle with 3 shower curtains, we hang it from a tree. Most of the time we shower with our bathing suits on, without it.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Just put F150 springs on the Raptor. I'll bet any F150 airspring setup should be adaptable. Or these: https://www.supersprings.com/shop/ssr-116-47/

Van Interior Set Up - for two parents and three kids

Have you asked your kids? I'd rather setup my own little pup tent than sleep in a van with you.

    Expedition Vehicle selection thoughts?

That's why I posted the Camplite. A bit tougher than average. That being said, I think you'll find the tough Expo campers need a ton of maintenance as well.

    Expedition Vehicle selection thoughts?

I'd go F450 CCLB, 4x4. Add a Detroit locker to the front axle. And wait to see if anything is ever available for the rear axle. Although, one locker might be enough. Add any slide in camper with a slide out. Done. That's plenty for just about everywhere in the US I've been to...

looking at new trucks and have a question about the Rams

Why does everyone get hung up on the fact that the chassis cab work trucks are detuned? The Ford guys have a conniption fit over the same thing. The extra 50hp in the civvy trucks is to win reviews for momo's. It's not needed on the big trucks. These things ain't race cars. They're...

    F150 Build Plan

I have a highlift, 60' chain, 100' rope (rarely), Maxtrax, some 4x4 lumber, tire chains, and a shovel in the bed of my truck. Winches are nice if you get stuck every weekend. I used mine less often than I had to take it completely apart for service. You have to keep in mind, they're just...

    I'd rather have the 5.0.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

The trac controls are fine with lifts. The adaptable cruise control, headlight, and lane control sensors need recalibrated and might get twitchy. Stick with the XL's if you're going to get mod happy. I'd get as much gear as possible. They didn't have any 4.88 F250's on the lot, so I...

    2015 to 2017 GM 2500 HD

Work trucks get 45-50 hours of use every week. Run and idle for the entire time. This can actually be good for them, and the oil. There's no worries of moisture or acidity with working trucks. You're kinda burning the oil clean. In fact,I think that most work trucks will last longer (in...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

+100. That's my experience as well. Ford always offers a few terrible disposable vehicles, because that's what people want. Taurus, Topaz, Tempo, Ranger, Econoline, Exploder. Yep, the Explorers have never been anything I'd call good. Fords drivetrain and suspension is cake, but...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Base ccsb SD is 3100#. So consider a 350. A Camplite 6.8 is 2800#. I guess it'll work with a 250 and some more spring, but you'll be over sticker, as usual. The diesel costs you 1000#. Upscale option packs are quite heavy as well. All of those cameras and butt massagers add up. A...

For the record, I was't advocating bug spray. It was just an option sitting right next to me that was in this case, better.

I'd still go cc. A rack will hold kayaks over the roof anyways. Even with my 6.5 it's gate down for bikes.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

    Stx, 4*4, ccsb, 3.73 elocker, is $32 000. $5000 less than my Superduty. That's a fair price.

    F150 Build Plan

The oem elocker is best, stick with that. Add wheel grabbers and chain to the highlift. Forget the bumper, completely unneeded. If you're special ordering, I'd check any camper package and the hitch. What's the most gear for an f150?
