Electrical system for DIY camper build. A LOT of questions.

Meh, I figured appliances was a better term than thingies that suck power.

Electrical system for DIY camper build. A LOT of questions.

Okay so for time being, we are camping out of the car / truck but I have medical needs for an off grid 110V power supply overnight (CPAP). I am also in process of repowering my '04 F150 5.4L 4x4, and want to be able to transfer the build to the camper when built. I had previously used an...

    Bathing Question

Given your requirements, I would say a washbasin, and a washcloth. Check out Bob Wells with Cheap RV Living on Youtube, he has a good video on the subject.

Post your camping / gear lists!

Camping Equipment List: This list isn’t all inclusive, sadly there is far more than this. This is just the stuff I have recently laid eyes on. This list includes everything from backpacking, to as simple as possible overnight on the beach because we drank too much while fishing, to overlanding...

Post your camping / gear lists!

So, are you looking for our inventory, or our actual load in / out for typical trips? That varies as I am well equipped to provide gear for a large percentage of my local extended family on my wifes side, she has 7 siblings, with their spouses, neices, nephews etc...

DIY Truck Camper electrical power solution.

No intention on running AC on battery. That seems like asking way too much.

DIY Truck Camper electrical power solution.

2004 F150 XLT 4x4 5.4L (bulletproofing in process. Stupid phasers and weak oil pump design!) I am planning on a high output alternator but haven't bought it yet.

DIY Truck Camper electrical power solution.

So continuing with the design / build process for my DIY truck camper for my F150 4x4. I need power to... #1. Run a 5K BTU AC unit. #2. Power a little compressor fridge. #3. This should have been #1. Run my CPAP. Low draw travel unit, but still run my blessed CPAP. I have a current...

    Stoves??

Coleman Dual Fuel. Regular Unleaded Gasoline is available pretty much anywhere semi civilized on the planet, super reliable etc... I have several others, but for anything wandering away from civilization and easy fuel availability, the Coleman gets used...

Degenerative disk disorder with sciatica. Combine that with a lifted 4x4 truck...

You guys clued me into a couple of good ideas, although not directly. I will be using the steps with the tailgate down, but here we go... 2 step hitch stairs. https://www.amazon.com/Brophy-RHS2-Two-Step-Receiver-Hitch/dp/B001U7FSSQ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=hitch+stair&qid=1583446124&sr=8-1 To...

Looking for a Heavy Duty Ice Chest? Good Deal on One at Costco Right Now

The Lifetime 55qt Yeti clone is $97.00 For my setup, I need something that has an upper height is 18", this comes in .7" under that limit... Not a bad deal. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lifetime-55-Quart-High-Performance-Cooler-90949/490384164 As far as ice goes. Use 6 - 8 quart size Fuji...

    Camco Propane Tank Tree....stop wiggling!

Good fix. If you can find one, I personally prefer the Century MFG propane tree. It clamps to the safety ring on the tank instead of putting pressure on the valve. I think they stopped making them though. I have one, and love it...

    Portable generator solutions

Watts to amps is roughly 100w per amp at 110v, It's actually slightly higher. So to get 30 amp service, you will need at least a 3500w generator. Either accept a bigger generator, or lower your power needs. No middle point here.

Camp Tables - What are you using?

First and foremost, the affiliate link was very much not intentional... Just trying for a shorter URL... If anyone can recommend a way to shorten those mile long URLs without having to go to one of those third party link shorteners sites. The point behind posting the URL is only to give an idea...

Is the TX4x4 club the last to use Citizens Band?

I am actually amazed that so many here are saying their clubs are all converted to HAM. (Amateur Radio). For the most part, I have found folks aren't all that interested in the radio rig itself aside from convoying and keeping tabs on the trail.

DIY water system / shower build for expo trailer

Just to add one thought to the above post. And a disclaimer. I own a Zodi, and love the way it works, sort of. The newer designs I like better... The Zodi, while it works well, does NOT instantly heat up your water to showerable temps. The way to use a Zodi is to turn the pump on, light the...
