Side pipes are cool, when mounted on the right period of truck. Like my old '81 Chevy: Smoking due to the 6.2L diesel they were attached to: Man, I miss that truck.... Casey

Probably Indian Point. I will actually be camping there this weekend. It's just south of Silver Dollar City. Thanks, Casey

Let's see your homemade rock sliders!

Getting closer! Almost ready to mount. I was able to dig up some 1.75" HREW tubing to add a couple of more support legs. Casey

Ball joint advice - 95 Tahoe

Project Complete! Project complete! I started with a complete tear down of the front end: I borrowed my dad's hydraulic press to press the bushings and lower ball joints out of the control arms, and then press the new parts in. This ended up taking the most amount of time during...

Let's see your homemade rock sliders!

Thanks! Those pictures just show the sliders up their for mock-up. I will weld the end caps on and fully paint them before installing the sliders permanently. Yes, it's a 95 Tahoe. First year that GM decided to stop calling them Blazers and officially call them the 2 door Tahoe. I wish they...

Let's see your homemade rock sliders!

Making progress: I've almost finished the first one. Need to make some end caps for the tubes, and build some gussets to where they'll attach to the frame. Then I need to finish stripping them of rust so I can paint, and then weld them on! Casey

Let's see your homemade rock sliders!

Thanks for all the ideas! They look great! I hope to take this pile of steel: and turn it into body armor pretty soon. That's 2 x 4 tubing, 3/16th thick. I already had it laying around. Casey

Ball joint advice - 95 Tahoe

Okay, it's time to start ordering some parts and get some repairs done on the front end. I know for sure that one lower ball joint is worn and loose, and another has a torn boot. Everything else looks fairly normal. However, since I'll have it partially torn down, it makes sense to replace...

    tire selection for my Suburban

I'm really pleased with the Kenda Klever M/T's I installed on my Tahoe. Excellent tire, excellent value. Solid construction, and excellent tread life so far. Here's a write-up I did on my tires: http://overlandguild.org/index.php?topic=129.0 Casey

    The TerraShuttle build- a 1993 Chevrolet K3500 6.5L turbo diesel 4x4 quad-cab TC rig

Double Ditto! I've now got 275K miles on my 6.5L. Very trouble free, other than the stupid electronic Injection Pump. Even that hasn't been much of an issue. I've owned quite a few 6.2L's and 6.5Ls. Very reliable engines. They just aren't as powerful as the Cummins and Powerstrokes, but...

    Cold-startin' a 7.3 ...

As others have said, it's probably the GP relay. Ford relays are known for going bad. Even though they "click", they won't allow power to pass through to the glow plug circuit. Another way to tell if your glow plugs are working... turn your headlights on, then turn the ignition on. Lights...

Let's see your homemade rock sliders!

I'm getting ready to build some rock sliders for my Tahoe. I'd like to see what others have done. Some have made them out of round tube, some out of square stock, some out of a combination of the two. Let's see what ya'll have made! Thanks, Casey

    1972 Chevy C-20 Truck

All this talk of old trucks is making me really miss my old '81 C20 that I had converted to a hopped-up 6.2L turbo diesel: I owned that truck for 14 years, and just sold it a few years ago. :( Makes me want to hunt it back down.... Casey
