    Gen 3 rear A/C question: 01-02 only?

05 Limited has it. 01 XLS didn't. I like having the rear AC for pets/extra passengers that goes all the way to the 3rd row. The heat ducts in the floor of the 2nd row are also very good. Just FYI, the Montero rear AC is a separate system from the front AC. There is an additional blower...

My first Montero (2003 3rd Gen Limited) Build Thread

I have never found the 3rd Gen ride plush as say an Escalade or my parent's expedition, but it is way better than any solid axle 4x4. These will fit either 285/75/16 or 255/85/16 without lift or trimming depending on tread. Some aggressive treads are slightly larger than advertised, but any AT...

Gen 3 - Transfer case lights flashing under engagement

That is definitely your problem. If I remember mine correctly, a pin goes through the holes, and that collar on the right side of your picture holds it in place. I would use a small bolt with a nylon nut to allow it to still flex some at that joint if you cannot find a pin that works. A...

The last US supplier was in AZ, but it is now closed. The company is out of Israel and ships to the US. They have an eBay store, and you could send a message about them posting more Pajero CK products. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/asfir-offroad/_i.html?_fsub=8125813010

Gen 3 - Transfer case lights flashing under engagement

If the front lights are flashing, then it is an issue with the free-wheel clutch system and its components. Since you say it drives the front wheels, then the clutch, solenoid, and actuator should be working. There is a sensor on the end of the actuator to confirm that the system shifted...

Gen2.5 vs G3n3, Not Necessarily Logical Edition

Some 5spd trucks had LSD. I swapped an 01 Limited LSD into my 05 last year. Not really needed with traction control, but I needed a replacement 4.3 Rear Diff. Best way to know is look at the label on the back which should say Hyblid LSD if there is one installed. It is a Hybrid Clutch/Torsen...

    Front Differential Removal

Not sure if anyone else with a Gen 2 will reply, but if you haven't already grabbed a FSM for your SR, then you should be able to find one in my sig. The FSM should have the diagrams to figure out if you can remove just the diff. If it is anything like the Gen 3 IFS, then the diff and...

    Re-gearing Gen 3?

The LSD's weren't standard on the 01-02 models, so it is hit or miss on whether you find one or not. I searched for a few months trying to determine which trim levels or packages included one. I installed a 4.3 LSD into my 05 limited from eBay almost 2 years ago. I can sense that it helps...

    3rd Gen Steering Rack

Another note to your question about the steering rack failing. The Gen 3 uses a rack and pinion system which is always connected even if the power steering quits working. The only way to truly break it is for the tie rod ends to fail.

    New additions to my GEN3!

The Heavy Duty one (1/4" plate) was $150. The 3/16" plate is $130. I only have issues with the hitch hitting on departure angles so I can't justify building a bumper yet.

I added one of these for the fat end always hitting the trailer hitch. Has already hit pavement backing down a steep driveway. http://www.skidmark4x4.com/skid-plates/

You are right. I thought the tabs seemed close to the correct positions. The best option I found is eBay searches for the filters. These seem to be an option that was not installed in most factory models...

gen 3 monty stock springs sag?

^^^^^^^ What he said, but any stock springs/shocks will sag. Some will be faster depending on driving style, daily load, amount of offroading. My 2001 was driven very hard, with offroading occasionally and the springs were sagging at 170k miles. An OME kit will always fix that, though.

Found Monstero's winch mount build. It is mounted to the front arms of the ladder frame and has substantial support and gusseting. http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=919169&page=0&fpart=all&vc=1

    Les's '01 XLS

I don't want to start an argument here, but the 3rd/4th Gen Montero/Pajeros use a monocoque construction with a built-in ladder frame. The subframes are bolted to the ladder frame and the body panels are welded to the ladder frame. The uni-body design makes support structures out of only the...

New member with Gen III monty

Hello and welcome. The 285/75/16 is correct. Most treads will fit in this size. I have heard of a few extremely aggressive treads having slight rubbing. The oil leak is most likely the passenger valve cover gasket. This is common on the 3.5L engine. My 01 had this leak the entire time I...
