Scott, I believe the files are time-stamped. That is, when you go to download them to your PC, the files have a modified date and time associated with them.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it's a pretty decent camera. It's supposedly waterproof and it seems pretty rugged. It accepts a standard 1/4" tripod connection, so there might be a mount out there that you could use to attach it to the vehicle.

That is an excellent price on the 17-55mm f/2.8. That is also an excellent lens for a DX camera. I paid over $1300 for mine new. So, that's a great deal.
BTW, the definition of a prime lens. As an example, the 10.5mm f/2.8 is a prime lens.
