Montero '01 Timing Belt: DIY Job?

I'm curious about this as well. I will need to do mine in the next 20K and I'd like to do it myself next time.

Big Bend National Park: A week in the wilderness

Thanks for sharing. Great landscape shots. I've climbed the Chisos plenty of times. Those views never get old...makes me want to plan a backpacking trip there again soon.

    LED Utility Lamps

Maybe not. I thought the other lights weren't already available. I was trying to offer an alternative that's well built, runs on little power (approx 1A), and provides great light for camp and reversing, and it's available now. But yes, they're a bit more expensive...good stuff usually is.

Quality LED Lighting already available Why not look into lights that are already tested, proven, and readily available? Right here.

Cooper Discoverer STT in a 255/85-16?

That's too bad as I was looking at these recently. Cooper even markets their long-life tread on their website.

RAM Mount, ScanGuageII, Zamberlan boots, OJ's, lights, Aussie mags, etc.

Wow, you read my mind. Those were the first thing I looked at. I've always wanted a pair, but dude, those are way too small for me.

    Might be getting a mitsu....

Look for a '99-2000 full-size Montero. This was also available with a factory locker in the rear, but if you can't find one, don't sweat it. Get the one in the best shape. ARBs are available for both axles.

Need ideas for sleeping platform with fridge

Heidi, I think it's a bit funny how this has transpired. Start with the FJ, then Josh doesn't like you driving it all the time. You get your own truck, and now it's becoming the primary rig. I say make him sleep outside; problem solved. ;)

    Evidentiary standard for tech

I have no skin in this game, but I had a question about this comment. What happens if it fails while climbing a steep hill? Even if they are simple and easy to replace, wouldn't that be a precarious spot to do that type of repair? When would it most likely fail, on a flat road (where it's...

Is a handheld HAM worth it?

Lance is spot on with this one. In almost all cases, I use only 5W with my mobile unit in my vehicle. I only increase the power if it's needed. This would be a pretty versatile way to go.

Sweet. Glad you got it so quickly. That's awesome. Mr. Leary did a great job getting it loaded onto a truck so quickly. ExPo teamwork at its best.

Anyone else being blown off by Autohome?

Mike, just so I understand what happened here: did you actually have an order with AH? By order, I mean payment was made and an invoice was provided. I don't mean that you exchanged information and notes were taken. I think there's a bit of a difference when you look at the email from Mike...

Breaking a bead with the Hi-Lift?

The Tyrepliers are awesome for sure. I got them too after getting a chance to see how well they worked. I'm surprised, though, that the hi-lift didn't do the trick with all the air out of the tire and the valve core removed. So, it just squished the tire and then lifted the back end of the...
