    2011 Hotshot Conversion

Be careful with those military generators, they’ve given a lot of guys tinnitus.

    Tires

I had the ultra terrains on my Ranger. I already had dedicated winters then and bought them as summer tires so I had no winter experience with them. They were quiet and looked good though.

    2017 F-150 build...Everyone meet Walter White

My uncle pulled a setup like that. He could back the boat into the lake with the camper in between. Must have been the career as a truck driver.

    Tires

I considered the Duratracs but reviews are all over the place. Some claim they’re awesome in the snow but then say they’re scary in wet conditions. I got a good deal on the Nokian outposts so that’s what I’m running.

    Tires

The Falkens get great reviews in snow/ice. I’d probably just go back to them if you liked them.

Custom Trailer to haul "Toad" vehicle (vs flat-tow)

I’ve seen a few late model cars equipped for flat towing. It’s not an easy process. I think it’s probably 8-12 hrs. Some of the parts installed are quite expensive too. No experience flat towing but a friend shared an experience showing up to a campsite with a dead battery in the toad, and you...

    Alternative fuels for small firepit?

Sometimes I’ll use regular charcoal briquettes in a fire pit for cooking. Not much ambiance though.

    Nobo 16.5 axle advice needed

I don’t notice a bend in your pic. Are your tires wearing unevenly? EDIT: I should have hit refresh before I replied. If you’re sure it’s bent you could replace with another torsion axle, preferably more heavy duty and custom made to bolt right in. Or you could build a subframe and bolt...

Northern Lite 610 for 1/2 Ton PU

I was going to mention something like this. My ‘15 2500 Chevy 8’ box has a payload of 2,800ish and the sticker in the glovebox says 1995# for a truck camper.

2021 RAM 3500 Tradesman | AEV Prospector | FWC Grandby

I don’t know if it’s just a difference in terminology but I see the the lack of engine breaking for gas engines pointed out sometimes. Gas engines definitely have engine breaking, at least my 6.0 Chevy does. When you’ve got the cruise set(and tow haul mode on)at a speed and you go down a decent...

    Any experience with Ember trailers?

They constantly go out of sync. That’s not usually a big problem though, you run the slide in and out a bunch and it should re sync. The main problems are: The motors get weak and the the controller shuts it down. Or The blocks that ride on the rail break and aren’t aligned anymore, it won’t...

Do your brakes fully lock up?

Those quick lube axles with the grease zerk in the middle is notorious for getting over greased and letting greese past the seal onto the shoes.

Talk me out of it: 6.0L Powerstroke?

I wouldn’t own one. I was doing recovery work in ‘08 and we were using these things then. They didn’t like to start in the winter and had mechanical problems. Things have come a long way since then. Unless you want a high maintenance hot rod truck That probably has other problems at this point...
