vERY NICE PICS. The only time I have been to the islands is for work (logging camps) Not much scenery involved! I could tell you fun stories on the ferry ride to PR man is gets bad on a fall windy night!
My dad has done several fishing trips to float camps around the charlottes. This seems to...
I'm sure you could make an antiglare screen for it pretty cheap and it would help protect the screen too?
edit: just looked and boxwave makes a antiglare screen specifically for the 300 and 400t $12!!
very cool truck! I have had a few of the early dodge cummins. I would go for the 4.10's and some power improvements which are simple to do. That way you will have all the power you need. check out the diesel power mag's website they ran a series on hopping up the early motor.
hell ya if its clean and fairly rust free its easily worth that! Offer him $300 and use the $200 for towing it home. its worth more for the parts in it than what you would pay. Up here a $500 cruiser doesn't have a frame or a body. its basically a pile of rust with axles under it!
do some checks on your current motor like compression and leak down. this will tell you if its down on power or not. You can do a few little things to help with power. Personally I would upgrade the whole truck to a newer tacoma rather than an engine swap to the newer 4.0 V6. And I doubt the v8...
Good comparisons! Some other notes:
Parts
Jeep: came from factory this way.
Toy: Custom built and alot of one off parts that make it hard to source parts for unless you built it and know what they are.
Comfort:
Jeep: Wins hands down
Toy: Very small cab and the seats being so close to the...
An FJ-62 fits in your description perfectly. i would find a clean one and fix it up suspension and expedition wise and do th engine swap down the road if your not happy with the stock engine. Its not that bad. Think of it more of an Ox than a thouroughbred!
A friend of mine has stainless bottles like the KK made in China. He said his used to be made in the US and then the co stopped making them and he couldn't find another NA supplier so he had to go to China. I told him to make sure of the quality of the stainless from over there. I will not use...
for the amount you would want to put on a Canopy (300 lbs?) some electrical conduit would probably work. Or something like 3/4" sch. 40 pipe (.113" wall)
the 4 door solid axle hiluxs are still very rare as most of them in Japan were work trucks and not worth importing. Person in our club has a '91 and it full out rocks. I would check with someone like G&S cruiser parts and see if they can import a cab for you.
it should be fine but I would upgrade the birfs to longfields and do some gusseting on the housing. thats alot of extra weight on a housing already known to bend.
Thanks KC he sould add any custom cooling stuff to his ad. Anyone that has stuffed a chev v8 into the early toys (me included)knows they can be a real pain to keep cool without major cash outlay so I think it would be a good selling feature as it probably has a $$$ rad in it! Very cool truck. I...
