You mean "Pintle Hitches? You must be looking at old military trailers. The slapping at acceleration and stopping will drive you insane. There's a reason people convert them to traditional ball or to swivel types. You don't notice it pulling one of these trailers with a 2.5ton truck but you...
Get the Ford. The Tundra is overpriced, outdated junk. We had the TRD on the list of trucks to look at when my wife was looking for a pickup. It fell quickly from the list, immediately after the Tacoma. Final three were the Ram Power Wagon, the Ram Rebel, and the Raptor, she went with the Rebel.
Safety compliance killed the small cab "imports". The Jeep body and chassis is modern reg compliant. Toyota still has trouble passing, its the reason their seats are so low.
Transits are now built in Kansas. Additionally, Toyota and Nissan were manufacturing their small pickups here, they just upsized them with the changing regulations and markets. Mitsubishi and Isuzu didn't follow suit and faded away.
I actually think there's a huge market for it in the "white truck" commercial world as a 2WD, especially with a LSD rear and a solid beam front axle. A cheap shop truck/hauler, perfect for the gardener or pool guy. Put a "Postal" back on it with RHD?
Exactly! Right on the money. This is why I think the two door Jeep J-6 might make it. It the same wheelbase as the JKU, using the bed of the Gladiator. The cab of the Gladiator is the same as the JK/JKU from the front door frame forward, so the only new stamping is the back of the cab and...
It's all compromises. Look at the braking ability you've given up with those skinnies. What do think, 20% increase in stopping distance? It must squeal like hell in a even a not so fast corner.
No, I got exactly what you were saying. Safety regulations killed the small pickups. Changes in the market played a role too. The consumer wanted more interior space and with that comes a larger truck. The days of the Hi-lux sized pickup here in the states are over. Like I said, hope that...
Quite frankly, in a capability versus cost comparison to other choices the Iltis really falls short. These two are incredibly over-priced and outside of Canada have very little interest/value. I don't see them being worth the headache of trying to keep them running without an easily accessible...
Jeep showed a two-door version of the Gladiator at Easter Jeep Safari. Like it or not, if made available that's as close as anyone is going to get. Personally, I think there is a large market for a "white" work version with 2WD as a replacement for all of the dying small pickups out there.
