4x4 NPR Build Complete - Cabover Campers Llc.

I’m sure he means it’s out of a super duty ford(possibly same truck as the front axle). So it’s good for 600+lb/ft in a 12,000?lb GVWR rig.

Want to switch to an oversized wool blanket for my pop-up camper. Suggestions?

I assume the military blankets being referenced here are better than the ones I saw in army basic training. The thing was rough but the biggest problem was it was tiny. I’m 5’10” and it seemed like you’d have to be sub 5’ in order to stretch out under one. Those Ft. Leonard Wood barracks are...

How to ID F150 max payload package?

Wow, that’s a lot of trailer for a half ton.

Black Series HQ19 - Electrical Question

Yeah that’s way too low. I’m guessing your charger isn’t turned on or it’s disconnected somehow.

Black Series HQ19 - Electrical Question

Is there some kind of switch you’ve left off that’s not allowing the shore power charger to work? What’s your battery voltage with the trailer plugged in, no solar?

    Is my steering box bad?

I checked with the big salvage yard in my area. They don’t have one but can order one for $225. From what I can tell these ‘11 and later trucks have a bigger steering box and do not have a history of mass failures. I think a used box at half the price of a redhead rebuilt box might be worth it...

    Overland Truck Build?

Also: The chassis cab frame is narrower. This means a flat bed made for a chassis cab will not fit a pick up.

    Advice Picking out Truck/Camper Combo

A gas truck will get you more payload. I'd nail down which camper you want before choosing the truck.

Unsprung weight & grenading weak rear diff - Wheel/Tire consideration

I think grenading the diff is more a result of too much skinny pedal and alternating low traction/high traction situations. Knowing nothing about your rig I’d think you’d be fine if you take it easy.

4x4 IFS Swap in Heavy truck

The 450 dually is wider (and turns tighter) than the 350 dually. Not sure where the extra width come from.

4x4 IFS Swap in Heavy truck

I didn’t see it mentioned, the 10 lug 450 and up is gonna be the wider front axle that turns sharper.

    Is my steering box bad?

It’s hard to figure out if these trucks have issues with the steering shaft etc because everything online is talking about the previous generation truck. What do you mean short wheelbase trucks? Mine is a crew cab 6.5’box.

Overland Storyteller - Upgrading to Beast

It’s a 9,000lb 4x4 Sprinter van. I would guess the weight combined with the relatively small tires are your biggest problem. I’d start with a good air compressor to air your tires back up after going off road and a kinetic recovery rope so someone can help you if you get stuck. Do you have tow...

    Cummins Canoe (A Stepvan Story)

On the Deboss Garage YT channel he put a 4bt in a Tahoe. He said the 4bt is more unbalanced than the 6bt so he put a bigger harmonic balancer on it. I wonder if broken cranks are a common thing with the 4bt. How do the bearings look? Metal shaving in the oil?

Can I get some advice on what to look for? Camper for 2 people and a dog

As far as towables go I would just suggest going into the unit and make sure everything works. A lot of them are built very poorly from the start. I had a salesman showing me one unit. I was pretty well ignoring him while I was opening cabinets drawer's etc. I had to gently force one of the...

    Is my steering box bad?

I don't want to try adjusting the box because I've heard it's not all that straight forward. Truck is stock height with stock 32.5" tires. I don't see a ragjoint on this one. I've had several 4x4 s10 trucks, almost all I replaced front end components on so I'm very familiar with worn out...
