Dual battery install 05 GMC Sierra with pics

That's some nice work there, what are you planning on powering with that fancy setup? I did a dual battery setup but I did it with #2 wire and kept the 160a alternator. I used a basic ignition controlled solenoid. Its nice being able to jump yourself. I'm glad the HD trucks don't have that RVC...

    Palomino Backpack

Yes I think that’s how it’s intended to be used. I assume you have the truck charging the camper batteries? Don’t run the fridge on 12v when the truck is off. My previous camper had a two way fridge, propane and 120v. I tried to run it on propane while in transit but it would blow out. That’s...

Key off power draw - '06 TJ

Buy a line t amp clamp meter or similar. Measure for excessive key off draw. Go to your fuse box and pull fuses one by one until the draw goes away. That’s a good start to finding the draw. I agree with above about starting with aftermarket mods. I’ve had bad alternators discharge a battery when...

    TRD Trailer

We’ve had a TuRD trailer for years. We fill it up with the tractor and then tow it around the field to spread the TuRDs out.

    Cummins Canoe (A Stepvan Story)

You should consider a CO detector. With the combination of possible engine exhaust fumes leaking into the cabin and your stove/heater fumes, it’s a good idea. When I was a kid we’d sleep in an ice fishing shack and wake up in the mornings with a headache. After adding a CO alarm the cause was...

    Is my steering box bad?

Truck is a 2011 2500hd gasser, I bought it three years ago at 90k and now it’s at 150k. The steering got significantly sloppier the first year I had it. It hasn’t gotten much worse since then I feel, but it hasn’t gotten better. I have been doing all my normal checks of tie rods, ball joints...

'21 Ford Ranger Lariat WHY NOT?

Also you're gonna get full size truck mpg with midsize truck fuel tank capacity. You'll end up like the jeep guys with extra fuel cans hanging off your truck. lol

'21 Ford Ranger Lariat WHY NOT?

Wow, some of those look like they’d be better off with a heavy half or 3/4 ton truck. I towed a 9,000lb 30’ trailer with my crew cab gasser 2500 that’s rated for 14,000lb. It seemed like a lot of trailer for the truck. I don’t think tow rating takes into account aerodynamic drag.

'21 Ford Ranger Lariat WHY NOT?

Is that one of those goofy non North American type trailers? They have a less tongue weight with those axles more towards the middle. Seems like it’s be more prone to sway though.

'21 Ford Ranger Lariat WHY NOT?

Are the Rangers aluminum bodied? I bought my truck used and I swear rust started popping through the fender a week after I paid it off. My next truck will be aluminum.

'21 Ford Ranger Lariat WHY NOT?

I went from a Subaru Forester to a crew cab 2500 Chevy. I’ve got a contractor topper on the back I can barely see out of and that affects the maneuvering more than anything.

    Overlandtowater’s solid axle suburban

Some parts of those trails look pretty rough, I wonder how far my stock 2500 would make it.
