    2004 8.1 Yukon

Yup, the "bad ride" from a crank is either the shocks reaching the limit of travel, the control arms bottoming out on the travel stop, or both. I have my bars cranked 2" with no change in ride quality.

Most capable, dependable, affordable truck camper truck?

mhm mhm You want the long bed to get a bigger camper, and if it's just you in the truck the smallest cab will keep overall length down which will help you everywhere. I'd lean towards just the extended cab if you want quick storage access, the size difference between the crew and extended cabs...

Most capable, dependable, affordable truck camper truck?

Regular cab, long bed, 6.0/6L80E Silverado. I know the Ford guys will say nay, but I believe that to be your cheapest AND most reliable option. I'd def go newer gas over older diesel.

Nope, but the trails are part of an old VOR route.

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Nice pics! You're going to want to add a chainsaw to your list of supplies. Never do a New England wheeling trip without it!

Ha! Although not as capable, this truck is definitely way more reliable than the two XJs I owned.

    Opinions on Suburban 2001 rig?

As far as the driver's seat goes, pick up some foam and a new leather cover from the seat shop. I put the durofoam in my truck a couple weeks ago and it's an amazing difference. Everything else is nothing to worry about. If there wasn't anything that scared you on the test drive, all there is...

The G80 rear locker (which is the same as it's been for years) works great in my experience.

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

Still makes more power. OP needs gears.. 4.56s. Find a different shop that will gear the IFS front, seems like they just didn't want to do for whatever reason.. plenty of trucks get that front axle regeared. It's all about compromise. Nothing is going to make all it's power off idle unless you...

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

BTR truck cam or the Texas Speed 212/218 are good for like 50HP at the crank and no other internal mods. Add headers, exhaust, and a tune and you're good to go. A cam is on my 'long term' list for this truck if family planning lets me keep it longer than a couple more years.

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

Get more gear, going to 4.10s wouldn't be worth the cost. Go to 4.56s.

Ram Rebel or Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

I'll disagree with the others saying the new Tacoma can't tow. Its actually downright impressive in that department. Size however, thats up to you. I think a crew cab 6.5' bed Tacoma is a good do-it-all size. But once you start putting much bigger tires on it and weighing it down all of the...

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

I've had that feeling with both of my modded XJs, my Subaru, my brand new VW (not bc it broke, bc it was too slow and boring), and even though I loved it to death, my Rover. I've never once been mad at my Chevy for any reason other than I didn't (and sometimes still don't) like it. I like...

    Tundra vs F150

What is really bothering everyone still posting about this? Maybe you guys should talk to someone. These are all machines. They will all fail, somehow, eventually. We fix it, or don't, but otherwise get over it. Buy what you like. Buy what you think will get you more likes on IG. Buy what your...

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

Been done a few times, pretty sure there are 'kits' and harness available off the shelf. IMHO tho, a high end rebuild of the 4L60 is easier, cheaper, and overall a better idea. The 60 has a taller first gear than the 80 too.
