That is an extremely valid point about being it being just a transfer tank. Not really going to stop the main tank from working.
But the heat from the rail was sort of what I was thinking about in that it is constantly heating up the fuel system anyways. I had a vehicle heat soaked in the...

Your plastic tank isn't enveloping the exhaust and water does not have a flashpoint of - 45F that gasoline does and plastic doesn't conduct heat like metal.
Why put that much heat into the fuel? I don't think it's going to explode or anything but it sure seems like vapor lock would not be hard achieve. It looks like there is zero heat shielding and lots of enclosed areas.
If it works and is industry norm I guess I stand corrected. With diesel I...
Using them in the field or realistic tests? Why would anyone want that? ?
Comparison in a use case that resembles nothing anyone would ever do with them. Everyone knows (if you are not a complete noob or moron) the MT's are made of better plastic and are more durable. So this was an expensive...
I was just thinking this to myself the other day. I watch a lot of off road and recovery content. I have never searched for it but I have never seen it happen vs kinetic straps I have seen many failures.
Could just be a function of the ropes are more expensive and more likely to be looked...
I actually mistakenly ordered 400P thinking it was a 450P. But I have been happy with how it works. Mine accidentally got left in a dry bag that had an unknown to me leak for a month just heat cycling in the sun with 100% humidity. Most of the metal had oxidized on the surface and I thought it...
This thread has me looking at Frontiers now in Mexico to leave here as my out of country adventure vehicle. Haha. I mean they were in the mix already but they have been elevated a peg or two.
Also keep in mind suspension component life is also a function of environment as well as weight.
I live in Detroit and with our quasi 3rd word roads and salt and snow and rain and freeze thaw cycles I have a stock truck and FWD car that get destroyed ball joints and tie rod ends just about...
You are already "winning" by being aware of your GVWR and making choices to try to stay under it and meet you needs. Couple that with a slow as possible fast as necessary driving technique and you should be fine even if you are over it a bit.
I see people break stuff 100 times more by being...
Radiant heat is terrible without a ton of insulation. Seems like you would be doing a better job of keeping the truck bed warm compared to the air inside of the truck. Chinesium diesel heater would work better and be 10 times less effort.
Can't argue with numbers if those are the facts but it sure does not feel like it jumping from manual to manual with similar tires and gearing. Torque under 1500 is a bigger difference that it seems in real life.
I think the 3.6 is a perfectly fine engine just not a great engine. Would not...
Barely get out of its own way lol. OK... ?
I now drive a stock 2.7 4cyl Taco re-geared with bigger tires and 1000 lbs of crap in the bed and can drive most of the country hanging onto 5th gear except extreme mountain passes. It's fine. Not great but acceptable.
It's also way worse than my...
I certainly would not go through the trouble to actually swap a 4.0 into a 3.6 vehicle. But the horsepower stat is mostly useless. It is pretty high up the RPM range. The 4.0 is so much better with usable power. In 4 lo I have switched between vehicles driving over rough sections for people. The...
Hard to understate this for me. I had a rusted out XJ I needed to replace. The Liberty was not for me. The minivan engine in the JK and the JK in general was not for me. Then they put the diesel in the lLberty and not the Wrangler. Then never released the pickup (until recently). I bailed and...
Hard to quantify without any explanation of how and why you travel. Then possibly not applicable to other people's needs.
In 20 years of travel you have never needed to get up a muddy or snowy hill to get where you are going, or get back to a main road? Never needed to get up an obstacle you do...
For an F350 there isn't much reason to not mount 2.
One winch on the rear makes no sense to me. I generally want to keep going the direction I am facing, or generally want to go forward up and over something. There are ways to winch backward if you really have to.
Agree about those Warn winch...
Swapping a winch for a hi lift jack seems silly given the 40 lb difference and the fact you already have the ARB bumper. Plenty will argue different but I gave my hi lift away after not using it for my own vehicle once in 15 years. I use the winch every other trip I take even if it is to just...
Yeah, have to file that under agree to disagree. There are many makes, models and specific drive-trains where this is not a reasonable expectation. Lumping everything together is overly simple and not accurate.
