I see that Factor 55 makes stuff that is radiused to not damage soft shackles. I think this is a great idea that adds to flexibility of gear.
But their prices are RIDICULOUS. Anyone one else out there making something like that? I can't drop $200-250 for a chunk of machined aluminium that does...
What radio did you get and how do you like it? I have a Kenwood in my Nissan that is older and the LCD is not visible in even moderate sun no matter how bright or what color you select. My Taco has no BT and my phone no 1/8" jack. So I need two radios but am wary of Kenwood because of my other...
I used these with completely shot leafs on a 1st gen. They worked great to let me use the truck for trips including one to Mexico where I brought stuff for work and literally would have been on the bump stops. Best part you can put them on other leaf sprung vehicles too. I got the XX versions...
Thanks for the pics it will be a good reference for any one not to forget or be confused.
Yeah I feel stupid because this is how my CJ-7 was and I actually ordered the parts. But that was 6 months ago I saw the exploded diagram and I have not wrenched on a CJ for almost 20 years lol.
What I...
I think I figured it out. I feel a bit stupid but it doesn't help that nearly every one of the manual hub conversion write ups and videos is doing it wrong.
Strangely I have AutoZone to thank. Their $80 no core replacement CV came with the circlip to hold the stub axle in and for some reason...
EPA standards drive emissions compliance, it doesnt drive the ridiculous HP and torque battles for the big three. Doesn't drive NVH ETC. Saying the engine redesigns are soley driven by EPA compliance is not accurate and leaving out a crapload of other things.
I have some used KYB Monomaxes with about 12K miles on them. They came off of a 2002 reg cab 2.7. Still have plenty of life in them. I upgraded to a lift. Best, stiffest valving for Tacos in the cheap-ish shock category.
Also two upper A Arms. Tired of lugging them around and want to pay it...
Yeah the SBC arms and joint seem to be allowing more droop than stock for sure. This is a pretty standard lift but it sure doesn't look like it at full droop. I was never against dropping the diff but with lockout hubs and many many reports of everything being swell afterwards with this exact...
Are the manual hub side of the CVS supposed to have the psuedo c clip like what's on the diff side? I had to push both hub sides in with a little effort to get them to seat the first time. But I can't remember what was on the end of the driver side shaft. I know the passenger side has nothing. I...
Yeah I went over everything. There is only one way all the parts go on the suspension. There is only one way the hub conversion goes in and that doesn't affect the knuckle distance to the CV anyway. I can slide the a arm cams and the SBC camber adjuster into the most advantageous position and it...
Hmmm... I put all the 4wd guts back in the front of the Taco. There is some slight CV binding at full droop so I think I'm going to have to drop the front diff, despite most of the internet saying it's not necessary for this amount of lift?. The real bummer is the passenger side CV won't seal up...
The reality is no one wants to spend basically the same money for a 2wd truck.
When I was looking for my Taco I was so mad because so many people didn't list it as a prerunner and I wasted so much time showing up and finding out. So kudos for listing it for what it is. But you need to find a...
Every time I have swapped out sponge-o-matic all seasons for an E rated taller sidewall I haven't. I guess it is relative, but unless you are going from something stupid like 20 down to 16 with the same gushy sidewalls as OEM I am not buying this as a significant dynamic.
Tire pressure and...
Yeah it's a bummer. If they were offering a 20% discount to pay cash up front for a long wait that would be one thing.
I expect a deposit, then when you are ready to put together a PO for my materials then you can demand a big chunk of change or full payment. But then I better get a reasonable...
I really want one of these. The fact the front overhang is longer and you can get in and out without moving the bed is exactly what I want.
But the wait list and the insane money up front lead time is just a non-starter. Giving someone 4-5 grand minimum and hoping you get something for it at...
Which would be relevant on a vehicle you take to track that otherwise has excellent suspension and a low C of G. On a 4wd vehicle loaded up for a trip? It's not making a significant difference.
